Star Trek: The Next Generation 6x16-17 Birthright

This is where I fell in love with Julian. Just so excited about the (apparently) most mundane aspects of Data’s construction.

When it was decided to expand the episode into two parts, the writing staff faced the challenge of finding a suitable B-plot, focusing on the character of Data. Ronald D. Moore suggested Data having some kind of religious experience. Brannon Braga, building on this, considered the idea of Data having a near-death experience. However, as René Echevarria explained, the idea was considered too similar to “Tapestry”. As such the writing staff came up with the idea of Data dreaming.

My dream job is to work on the writing staff for any Star Trek series.

Who wouldn’t be? The TNG crew take him for granted. He’s a frakkin robot!!

If there ever is another one in our lifetimes. :frowning:

Hi guys,

Unfortunately this episode is on the you tubes and I didn’t have time to other means it.
Sorry that I gotta miss the “Daddy Issues” episode.

Sorry, y’all. I’m not watching with ya. I’m in bed.

Yep.

That’s right.

You’re in bed with 'talos.

Hmmm. Think about that for a moment.

Anywho, I am falling asleep. I’ll frak as long as I can. Don’t be surprised if I pass out.

My point exactly. Computers are fast. Machines are strong. But a life-like (and fully functional) android? Truly extraordinary.

I’ve been seriously thinking about submitting to that Elvis Trek guy.

Not that he doesn’t have about a million submissions already.

Worf’s little smile at the Yridian when he tells him that he’ll take Worf there is quite well done.

There will always be more daddy issues.

I hope you don’t mind if we continue frakking after you pass out. :groucho:

Couldn’t hurt.

Pro Tip: Don’t call him “that Elvis Trek guy” when you do. :stuck_out_tongue:

Why does he have a pink head and grey hands? They couldn’t slap together matching prostheses?

Data: Culture of One

Never bothered me before.

romulans.
scum.

Writer René Echevarria commented that so much effort had gone into making the Klingons and Romulans sympathetic here that many fans complained that Worf came off as a fascist racist who ruined a peaceful place. “His motives are in fact racist, when he’s dealing with Romulans. But his actions are different; all he said was these people should know the truth and be free to leave. He never advocated violence and bloodshed.”

Data’s more prolific than Bob Ross

Just a happy little hammer, right over here. There you go. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, and…

“Data, you are the bird.”

Haven’t you heard? The bird, bird, bird, the bird is the word!
