[li]In a scene cut from TNG: “The Measure Of A Man”, Admiral Nakamura recalled serving aboard the USS Reliant during his lieutenancy with the newly assigned Ensign Picard.
[/li][li]As a junior officer, Picard was the closest of friends with Walker Keel, and also became friends with Jack Crusher and his fiancée, Beverly Howard. (TNG: “Conspiracy”, “Journey’s End”, “Attached”)
[/li][li]Picard demonstrated command abilities early in his career, in particular when he led an away team on Milika III to save an ambassador. This incident would later be mentioned by Q as one of the crucial events forming Picard’s personality. (TNG: “Tapestry”)

I really liked this episode for that reason. For me, Picard was a stuffed shirt. I liked that he realized, it’s all about the journey. That was the message of the finale, in a way.
Ask me about the book review I just wrote, and how access to birth control is not generally a straight progressive trajectory towards greater access to more effective methods.
ETA: Appropriate given that today’s the anniversary of the Griswold vs. Connecticut decision
It’s pretty sophisticated now. That doesn’t mean that people — particularly young people — use it all that effectively or consistently.
Hmmm… No specific answer there. USS Reliant. Reliant II more likely?
Well said. Kirk “I NEED MY PAIN!”
I thought Wally World was in California?
The Academy’s hand to hand combat training back in Picard’s day appears to be less than impressive
Okay.
SoCasilda,
Please tell me about the book review you just wrote, and how access to birth control is not generally a straight progressive trajectory towards greater access to more effective methods.
This is the only definite.

[li]Picard was assigned as a flight controller aboard the USS Stargazer. In 2333, as a lieutenant commander, he assumed command of the vessel when the captain was killed on the bridge. (TNG: “The Battle”, “Relics”, “Bloodlines”) Starfleet awarded Picard a promotion to the post of captain, making him one of the youngest Starfleet officers ever to attain the position. (TNG: “Tapestry”) Picard remained in command of the Stargazer for twenty-two years. (TNG: “The Battle”)

What would Kirk do?
Easy answer. Kirk would have judo choped the Nausican when he was young Kirk so he never would have gotten stabbed.
And Kirk would have destroyed Q way back in Encounter at Farpoint.
Gods and computers are no match for Kirk.
And he doens’t like to lose (takes bite of apple and smirks)
I’ve read 3 or 4 of the Stargazer books. The story in “The Valiant” when Lt Comander Picard takes command of the Stargazer is a good novel.
How do you take a bite of a smirk?
WWJTKD? He would have never been in the bar that night. He would have been in his quarters, having a four-way with Marta, Penny, and the girl who slapped him. And then Corey would interrupt, and things would get awkward. They would never speak of it again.
LOL. Leave to you, Badger for bring it down to extra double special gutter
WWJTKD?
He would have been studying. That’s right! James T Kirk was known as a stack of books with legs in his Academy days. It wasn’t until he got a fly Starship that he started frakkin every alien on every planet. Priorities, people. Priorities. Get the Starship. Get all the alien ladies. Stay in School.
Take that, JJ!
Damn. That’s all true actually.
