Star Trek: Deep Space Nine 3x21 "The Die is Cast"

Good point. I do love how Odo is ornery as ever even under torture, Very Malcolm Reynolds.

It doesn’t bug me so much as I just wonder if it were destroyed? If there were problems later? If the Obsidian Order doesn’t share and then they ally with with Dominion, so…

Garak’s regret is painful.

Luvok confronting Garak, there we see Garak’s sparkle come back after the… tragedy?.. of the previous scene.

Read a great Star Trek comic Captain’s Log: Captain John Harriman. (Enterprise B) (spoiler alert) He uses exactly that.

Garak’s the one to explain what’s happening to the sensors.

150 Jem’Hadar? I think that would call for obscenity use.

It’s a trap!

IT"S A TRAP!!!

LOL. I was thinking exactly that.

The set-up here is so brilliant on the part of the Dominion. They effectively neuter two of the four major power on the other side of the wormhole in a single strike.

Garak’s delivery is a bit more deadpan than Admiral Ackbar, wouldn’t you agree?

“No changeling has never harmed another” oh my. TWIST!

Realistically, they’d be the best weapons ever. Beam the enemy crew into space, beam away pieces of the hull or warp core shielding, beam torpedoes into the enemy bridge, etc.

Join me and together we will rule the galaxy as…as…changelings

It’s great. But it’s also true that the Obsidian Order and the Tal’Shiar were a legitimate threat.

True!! Does the war pretty much begin right after this?

TROPE ALERT: K.O.ing someone instead of arguing with them during a crisis.

There’s really great character development here for Garak and Odo

Yeah we’re almost to season 4 (and WORF!). This is the beginning of the rest of the series…

TROPE ALERT #2: Blowing up an enemy ship and flying through the explosion.

Indeed.

The great thing about Captain’s Log: Captain Harriman though is not about technology. It’s about Harriman’s deep guilt about Kirk dying on his watch and because he didn’t act. And McCoy helps Harriman get his mojo back.

So all the vessels were destroyed or captured by the Dominion. Which might explain why the device wasn’t used later, especially if the Founders got their hands on it. Probably figured out how to neutralize it.

It’s a classic.

“Or I’ll promote you…” Nice.
