Justice, or information. An interesting context for this kind of exploration (e.g. is it more important to try/punish terrorists or get information from them to prevent future attacks?)
This episode builds on the humanization of the character of Gul Dukat which began in “The Maquis, Part II” from the second season and continued in the third season episode “Civil Defense”. In “Defiant”, Dukat is saddened about missing his son’s birthday, and his interpretation of what that will mean to his son in future years is uncharacteristically honest. This softening of his character continues up to the fifth season episode “By Inferno’s Light”.
I don’t remember that, at all. Although I always figured Dukat had many wives, mistresses, children illegitimate or not being a maniacal, pompous ass that he is.
Me neither. The only family I remember him having is his daughter Ziyal
But Memory Alpha tells us about Dukat’s children:
Seven (by his Cardassian wife), including Mekor;
Tora Ziyal (by Tora Naprem);
another child by Mika
Well Ziyal’s the only one who had a significant role that I remember.
Oh, Kira, why did you kiss him? Weird. Aren’t you still in a relationship with Bareil?
Yeah. Those are the ones we know about.

Remember. She is the Kirk in the episode.
Very true. Too bad there isn’t a God-like computer around for her to talk into blowing itself up.
