I haven’t watched DS9 is a long while. But I don’t think this one ranks high up there as a great episode. It’s good, but not a stand out. I didn’t really think they were in danger or that they’d not be cured eventually.
Like any show though, Season 1 sometimes has to struggle to find its footing.

Well, I did a decent try at searching for the next ep online and couldn’t find it.
Maybe next week I’ll rent DS9 S1 from my local video store. Yeah, we still have a local video store.
DS9 started with a bang (c’mon, “Emissary” is the best of the pilots), and while there are some classics in Season 1 (like the aforementioned Emissary, and Duet), there are also some one-offs. I liked this one because I thought it was a fun story, but it certainly isn’t “arc-y” like a number of the later seasons.
If my hips and shoulders weren’t still sore from yoga yesterday I’d come up north and smack you both upside the head. Just saying.

something sad, though, is that DS9 won’t be available via Netflix until OCTOBER… 5 months away… and still. Sigh.

Oh, I’m totally with you regarding Emissary. It is the best Pilot out of all of the Star Trek series. And Duet was great too. Probably overall DS9 had a better S1 then TNG had – but I don’t remember a lot DS9 as clearly as I do TNG.
