Star Trek: Deep Space Nine 1x01-2 Emissary

“Everything short of the Prime Directive to make sure that they [Bajor] are” ready to enter the Federation. Hm. So this means the PD still applies to them, and in what way?

(In a Pale Moonlight is totally a PD episode! haha)

to the best of my ability. sir.

seriously.

I didn’t understand the first time I watched Emissary, I was too young. When I got a bit older, I tear up every single time watching this episode. At Sisko’s lost and when the prophets revealed to him how he hang on to that pain. It is the best series premier in Trek histroy.

Wooly-headed thinking like this gets a man eaten.

I totally missed the Nog being in jail bit the last time I watched this.

Ah and Odo, he’s working well with Sisko

I like Picard so don’t take this the wrong way. I like that Sisko didn’t kiss his arse. Very un-TNG.

and yet we have never seen any of his kind with hair…

Nice introduction to Bajoran politics there

Not in the grandest sense. Bajor isn’t a pre-warp culture. But, as they’re not yet members of the Federation, interfering in their planet’s internal affairs is still not allowed.

oh, Kai Opaka. I liked her.

And the introduction of the pah!

The book form of Emissary actually went into what Picard was thinking and feeling during all that awkwardness. He seemed a lot more self conflicted in the book than the episode.

and so would still apply to the Romulans?

I love Kai Opaka.

“Have you ever explored your pagh, Commander Sisko?”

That sounds kinky. :stuck_out_tongue:

I am picturing Kai Opaka holding Sisko’s ear and yells “PIEAAAAAAAHHHHHH”

so question on pah / pagh. Which one is it? pah-wraiths don’t have the g, but I see both with the singular, non-wraith form.

And thus enter the Prophets

Well, Sir Patrick plays that very well. I get that but at the same time, he’s not going to apologize especially to this “Commander” dressing down the “Captain”.

You mother is going to love me.
It’s not every day that you meet the woman you’re going to marry.

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Bajor’s clearly more of a frontier situation. Maybe his attitude is exactly why they chose him for the assignation.

Ironic, that.

Yes, but in a different sort of “international” politics sort of way.

yes, while he almost feels guilty for what Sisko went through, he couldn’t get himself to spill his feelings towards Sisko. Partly because he is the higher ranked officer. Partly because he has to keep that kinds of things bottled up, otherwise his guilt might eat him up.

This is great. Find the Celestial Temple, or else.

Jake is precious. No wonder Sisko loves him so much.
