Star Trek 1x17 Shore Leave

That would ruin the surprise. Besides, isn’t it more fun to just go looking for one, even if you don’t know what you’ll find? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d search that. Awww yeah.

you’re kidding, right?

She’s from where there be no tribbles at all!

And with that, I bid you all good night, lest I be tired and cranky tomorrow. Like most mornings.

night Mr B!! see you in 3 days!

OMGs, that one is hysterical.

So this is where all the “holodeck gone wrong” episodes from later Trek got their inspiration?

There’s so much randomness going on, it’s fun, but I did have to admit that I thought Kirk’s decision at the end was kind of stupid. They just had all sorts of problems because of their thoughts, and now they’re just going to let people run around down there with no orientation or anything? And they repaired McCoy, what about Angela? She wasn’t even a red-shirt! Weird gender stuff yet again, too (that black/white lace dress? painful).

But it was fun in a ridiculous kind of way. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this thread to see what you all had to say…

Angela was fine. Just a bump on the head. What gave you the impression she bought the farm?

This episode is one of my favorites. It’s not great but it is a ton of fun. I love all the hectic mayhem and comedy throughout. It’s kinda weird but whenever I’ve met people who love TOS Trek and they ask, “What’s your favorite, not best, but favorite episode?” I always answer ‘Shore Leave’ and they look at me strange and say, “Mine too.” It’s happened to me a couple of times and it’s weird but makes sense at the same time.

Maybe I missed her (I was watching this late last night), but I thought we last saw her sprawled on the ground with Esteban standing and freaking out. I didn’t remember seeing her in the line-up in the glade… but again, I could have missed it.

I could be wrong but I don’t think Esteban is there, either. I’ll have to check later as well.

I do have to clarify, funniest moment for me was McCoy yelling ES-teban! ES-teban! ES-teban!

Partially, but more directly from the TAS episode “The Practical Joker” which introduced the concept of the holodeck (though it was called the recreation room.) Needless to say, things went wrong.

Their was no real danger (aside from a painful, if temporary ‘death’.) Apparently the people it was designed for had more control over their conscious thoughts.

The Enterprise returned in a TAS episode “Once Upon a Planet.”

Also, I know way too much about this stuff.

Seriously. I’m getting kind of sick of the Yeopeople.

It’s breaking the rule! You can either show off your legs, or show off your cleavage. Both isn’t classy. :stuck_out_tongue:

The clothes are just terrible. That hat. ugh. and Ruth’s dress… is one of the most unfortunate creations I’ve ever seen. Is it even a dress? Seriously?

I was hoping that with the Yeoman’s dress incident we wouldn’t have to see that. Alas.

Thank IT. I always get thrown by how the collar stays intact.

Sometimes I feel like all my opinions on an episode are (negative) about the uniforms, lol.

Or man. I don’t think anyone would fall for the Kirk pickup lines.

Besides my previously mentioned ES-teban! ES-teban amusement - what was up with the don Juan? Seriously. It’s like Badger said upthread… and as someone who had to read a bunch of different versions of the don Juan storyline, well, it never gets better. Blech.
