Just sort of a shame that they made the Ferengi so formidable at first and then turned them into comic relief throughout the rest of Trekdom.
LaForge seems extra snarky this evening 
but if they hadn’t, we would never have had Quark, Rom, Brunt, & Zek, and that would’ve been a terrible shame
