ST:The Next Generation - Peak Performance 2X21 5/25 @ 10PM ET

Jellico was a perfectly fine captain, IMO. He just wasn’t Picard.

And he made Troi dress appropriately, for a change.

“But, knowing that he knows that we know he knows…”

I’d like to see Data wage a land war in Asia.

Your security chief is on an enemy ship, and you don’t change your codes?

Picard, I’m ashamed in you.

Yeah. Troi got away with that for too long.

I can’t agree about Jellico, though. He wasn’t a leader, he was a tyrant.

In the finest British naval tradition.

Hey! Look it’s Quark. Well, not Quark but the same whutever.

Oh, Gene.

The Ferengi? Really?

These were an alien threat for the next generation? Really?

Identical cousins? :stuck_out_tongue:

“…the result could be… unfortunate.”

Data, master of understatement.

You’d think if the Ferengi were that close, they should have had another starship to protect the area.

Klingon guile can hack into an alien ship’s security codes?

So why hasn’t he done it before, or since?

Remember kids, cheating = winning.

Love the ending. Puts a smile on my face, every time.

He changed the conditions of the test.

There’s a great Picard line in this episode—one of the many great Picard lines of the series:

Picard is giving Data a pep talk, after both Troi and Pulaski have failed to convince Data that he’s not flawed somehow because he lost the game.

Just as the Captain leaves Data’s quarters, Picard says

“…commander, it is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.”

Great words to live by. And I’ve never forgotten them.
