I think Kirk would find a portal to 1940s germany, fight S.S. Nazis. Seduce a female german spy, then get Spock to use the early Nazi atomic bomb materials to build a time machine, go forward in time through a portal on the Romulan ship. Judo chop the Romulan guards that try to seize him, steal the cloaking device and tell Scotty to beam him back about the Enterprise.
What? It could happen.
I totally watched Space 1999 when it aired. Back then there wasn’t a lot of sci fi to choose from.
I felt so bad for them not having transporter tech. They had to fly around in those Eagle spacecraft everywhere (tho those were cool).

Kirk would talk to the Enterprise computer and trick the Iconian virus. He would tell Spock to create a diversion by making the computer compute Pi to its last digit because as we all know Pi is an infinite number. 
Somehow the Iconian virus would infect one of the crew, preferable one of Scotty’s love interests. Kirk will then beam her onto the Romulan ship after a brawl with Scotty. In the final scene, Scotty will request for a court martial for hitting Kirk. Kirk would make a joke while holding his sore jaw.
