It appears that on the Enterprise-D bridge there is plenty of comfortable seating area. Yet, the Dr. Crusher still manages to stay in her logical place in sickbay.
Hence my most logical suggestion that Kirk buy clothing of a more appropriate size. It is only logical to wear something that fits.
