ST:The Next Generation 3X26 The Best of Both Worlds - 8/24 @ 11PM ET

Let’s talk about the wait. Did y’all seen this when it first aired? Did you talk about it with friends?

Why does the sun come up? Or are the stars just pin holes in the curtain of night, who knows?

I remember having a somewhat heated argument with a fan (notice I didn’t say friend). He felt TNG was better than TOS. He mentioned this episode and how it was beyond anything the original cast had done in their show and even in the movies.

I started out trying to explain why can’t you enjoy both shows for what they are and what they contributed.

Then he attacked Shatner. Well, it wasn’t pretty after that.

No. The only person I knew who also watched it was a TOS-purist, so he rarely stayed current on the show.

Yes, I saw it on first run. I don’t remember having anyone to talk with about it aside my older brother and it was a short convo.

Bah. d:

You’re like Scotty defending the Enterprise. :stuck_out_tongue:

Every time you play it, another Paramount executive gets his wings.

Ouch.

I enjoyed TNG more than TOS, but I didn’t grow up with TOS. I think many ppl my age prolly are the same.

Edit: I’d never attack Shatner though!

Wow. Amazing how alone we all were to talk about what we love. YAY!! for GWC. We’ve come home.

I had no one to talk about it either. I tried to explain it to my dad but it was a bunch of, “And then Shelby was like…and Riker was all…and then Picard was…Resistance is Futile…oh it was great!!”

He shrugged.

When I went to college, my dorm had 10-20 ppl who gathered in the common lounge to watch. That was ossim.

Yeah, watching TOS was one of the few real bonding things I did with my dad, but he was never interested in TNG. My TOS-loving friend came around to liking TNG after we were both in college, probably a year or two after this.

Damn right, Skippy!! That punk didn’t know who he was messing with. I don’t remember entirely what I said, but I made my point without bashing.

That’s all he had. Bashing. IMO, it made no sense to me. You’re a fan of this show and you’ve got that attitude. I only really experienced that from Star Wars fans, which is expected. Trek fans are more understanding and open-minded.

“Shatner can’t act. Stewart did Shakespeare.”

“Um Shatner has performed Shakespeare.”

“Yeah but not as good.”

My brother enjoyed TNG. But, I think he preferred TOS. Not sure though. Our tastes in sci fi are similar. But, he could have liked TNG because he had me to converse with about it.

I did that during DS9’s run. A group of friends from work would get together on the weekend just for Trek. It was great. We did that for seasons 4, 5, and 6. I started working somewhere else during Season 7 and we lost touch. I really missed those parties.

What makes you say that? d: There’s a lot of overlap.

You should contact him with a link to youtube to Shatner being nominated (did he win?) for an emmy. d:

I don’t know what I was thinking, even considering doing both parts tonight. I need some sleep. These (relatively) early mornings are killing me. Fortunately, my coworker who normally works dayshift is back tomorrow.

Good night.

Night. What about taglines? no clue?

I liken Trek series to loves in my life.

TOS is my first love. I will never forget it. It touched my heart like no other even can.

TNG came along and became a great friend, intelligent and interesting.

DS9 was so much fun to be around, wild and exciting.

Voyager shows up and and vies for attention. It’s not your first choice but you’ll hang out with it, if it’s around. It’s always trying to impress you and sometimes does.

Enterprise is sorta hanging around waiting to be noticed. It’s shy around the others and doesn’t have a problem with being ignored. It just happy to be around.

What about Star Trek I, Star Trek V, and Star Trek (2009)?

Back in the day, there was only the Original Trilogy. Star Wars fans I met hated Star Trek. They thot Trek fans were geeks. Star Wars was cool because of all the amazing toys, etc.

Well, we were 12. What would you expect?

I should clarify. The guy I mentioned earlier, I met at a party in the mid-90s. I was in my 20s at the time.
