LOL! I just a few days ago watched the Enterprise episode where Travis spends some time on his family’s cargo hauler, and he talks about hey why doesn’t Starfleet put families on ships… but then they’d need to have counselors, too 
because people without their families couldn’t possibly need psychological attention lol

Yeah, that seemed like the ONLY Enterprise episode where we got any background on Travis.
Yeah, Travis was woefully underutilized. At least a few disinfection cycles would have been nice.
LOL. Yeah, well, I guess I can’t say I complained about the T’Pol disinfection scenes.

What would they call Travis?
It was a derogatory comment he only used with Archer, I believe. I know he called T’Pol Vulcan and not green skin. I don’t remember Shran ever talking to Travis. That is an interesting question though. What would he call Travis? Probably, Hu-Man.
