Anders said that time slowed down for them on the journey and that it took a thousands of years had passed by the time they got to the colonies.
Or something like that I can’t remember exactly what he said but he did explain it.

Slowed down for whom - the 13th, the 12, both?
And, while we’re at it, if so, what the frak happened to evolution?
The Five went looking for the humans that left Kobol (the 12 colonies). The only had relativistic flight so it took them longer. No Jump tech.
Left from where - Erf? Did the FF make the S7 on Erf? If so, how come the S7 ended up attacking the 12 Colonies? Were there humans on Erf? Are the FF recreations of humans of Erf? On whom did Ellen model “John”?
Frak it. I quit. Wait for Battlestar Wiki to straighten it all out and great good luck to The Big Three with tonight’s podcase. Gods know they’ll need it.
The FF traveled at relativistic speeds from Earth to the 12 colonies. Because they were moving at close to the speed of light, time seemed to slow down for them. As they traveled, it would have seemed like only a few years or months or less would have passed, but it was 2000 years later when they got to the colonies.
They got to the colonies and the colonials were already at war with the centurians. The Five agreed to help them created humanoid cylons like themselves (they’d already been trying like we were shown in Razor). They also gave them the ability to download - their condition was that they stop the war with the colonials, which they did. So the five made the 8 models (the seven we have always known about and the one that was destroyed) - Cavil got mad and killed the five. He decided to nuke the colonies and placed the five into the human population with no memories.
Ellen modeled John after her father - on erf (at least that’s what she said)
Ohhhh. What happened on Erf? (How can you kill the FF and place them into the Colonies as the same time?)
I assume Erf was destroyed when their own centurians turned on them and rebelled. This wasn’t explained fully - somehow Ellen and the other four knew what was about to happen and made preparations for their downloads. I think they went looking for the humans and found that the humans had fallen into the same pattern that they themselves had.
The Cylons on Earth forgot they where Cylons and ended up building their own version. The Erf Version of metal Cylons rebelled and Nuked the planet.
Are you sure?
I seem to remember RDM saying in his commentaries that the cylons are what made Kobol deserted.
It appears that much of the badness that has happened to humans and the FF has been orchestrated by Cavil. He rebelled against the FF and suffocated them, then boxed them for a time, and manipulated their memories when he un-boxed them and placed them among the humans.
13th tribe made their own cylons who rebelled on earth.
The FF knew that the Colonies would make their own and enslave them like they had and went to warn them.
The final five put themselves in a ship that took 2000 years to get to the colonies.
When they finally arrived at the 12 Colonies, they were too late, as the Cylon war was already taking place. They made a deal with the metal cylons to help create humanoid cylons and ressurection ability in exchange for the cease fire. This lasted forty years. During this time the FF created 8 humanoid cylons, the first of which (Cavil) turned on them and planned the attack on the 12 Colonies.
Yep, exactly
I dont see how this is so confusing.
The bottom line at the end of “No Exit” is that Cavil is a JERK.
That’s what I took from it, anyway. I’m rewatching the ep (something I never do) so I may understand the data dump a bit better but the gist of what’s been said here sounds right.
I like that there is an explanation spilling forth for everything, but I can’t help but feel like two different populaces kajillion miles from each other sure did take they’ve only just begun to give us some.
I also felt that “No Exit” was too much concentrated data. I know RDM wanted to save Ellen for her own episode, kind of, but putting a scene or two of her with Cavil since the start of 4.5 would have been better, I feel, than dumping all of her scenes against all of Anders’; the episode winds up so dense and so full of information that I wonder how well it will stand up once you know all the answers.
Assuming we get them all, of course.
This thing of creating lots of questions through a long period and then answer it all at one big swoop through some sort of revelation is cliché as hell and is considered bad writing, but I guess the BSG writers had no other option. It’s the price to pay for making things up as they go along, as Ron Moore confessed they did. A bit frustrating, yes, but I try to stick to the bright side, at least they are explaining something, and there are still 5 eps to go. I would be pissed off beyond belief if this was the last episode.
Hi. I was wondering if there’s anyone who can be so kind as to map out the history (as told by Ellen, Cavil and Anders) they showed us in the episode that just aired (well, not so much shown us as supposed to have the characters recite huge chunks of plot points. That…was understandable, but kind of annoying.) in some kind of easy to read point list.
I’ve just watched it, and I have a headache. I think I get it, but I’m pretty frakkin confused about the history and how it corresponds to what we already knew, and annoyed about the moustache twirling villian-ization of Cavil as just some messed up kid with mommy issues who seemingly caused all the problems, at the same time.
So, anyway, this is a cry for some organizational help.
HELP!
I’m with you, J, and have expressed similar sentiments elsewhere - but maybe I’m just trying to make myself feel better because I’m so dense.
Soooo, how did the FF know where the 12 Colonies were?
At the time the 13th left Kobol were they humans or FF Cylons?
