Smallville

Episode 717 - Sleeper
Interesting opening with the party transitioning into the air ducts.
WTF? Jimmy Bond?

Great cooking skills, Jimmy.
Chloe’s taking over for Lana at Isis? Did Lana have that as a standing arrangement, or is Chloe just using Proto-Watchtower?
Well, I suppose moving Ollie’s spare Green Arrow set makes sense, since the Clocktower isn’t secure, but what happens when Lana’s back?
Got to agree with Chloe here. Lana is a way lower priority than the Veritas box.
"Do you think that breaking national security laws is my idea of a good time?
So they still haven’t figured out that Brainiac and Kara left the planet?
Clark hasn’t read the journal yet?
The lady thinks Jimmy did the hacking Chloe’s been doing?
“I went to a Halloween party as James Bond and everyone thought I was the maître d.”
The lady seemed a bit too spot on with the status of Chloe and Jimmy’s relationship

How would Jimmy have reacted to opening that box and finding a Green Arrow outfit?
Busted, Chloe. So much for the phone being on silent.
Thought Lex would have already been on his way to Zurich.
Lex was red-flagged? Why?
At least Jimmy didn’t check the boxes.
A magically appearing page? You sure the pages didn’t stick together or something, Clark?
“You do realize that your greatest superpower is your ability to win me over with just one look, no matter how ridiculous you sound, right?”
Time travel?
He’s already going to outlive everyone on Earth, Chloe.
LOL at Jimmy guilt-tripping Clark.
And Clark thinks Jimmy’s talking about him?

So Kara sent the transmission?
“I know that being in the Fortress technically means you’re out of cell phone range.”
So was that part at the beginning Jimmy helping Chloe?
Treason? That’s a bit of a stretch.
Camera bow tie?
Guess I was a bit off.
Nice dress, Chloe.
LOL at Chloe’s reaction to Jimmy pulling her aside for the dance.
I bet they had fun with this.
You know, a club at the top of a secure building seems like a bad idea.

Is Jimmy going after the wrong thing?
Did that satellite image just imply that Metropolis is where Kansas City is in the real world?
Jimmy fits in at the club about as well as I would.
Well played, Chloe.
“Agent Webber always leaves a few teeth.”
LOL at the dart cufflink and the trace of the Bond theme when Jimmy used it.
Wow, Webber’s pissing me off.
Nice trick, Jimmy. A very Chuck solution.
And he actually saved the day
Neither of them are pulling any punches in this conversation.
Wouldn’t the bank wonder why Lex has the keys when he isn’t the one paying for the box?
Empty?
OK, maybe not. What the hell’s that?
What is Lex dealing with in Quebec?
Jimmy’s going to Lex to protect Chloe? I think she’d rather be in jail.
Could Webber have been working for Lex on the side like the FBI agent that roughed up Pete in Season 3?
“Krypton is the planet that exploded, right?”
Nice technobabble from Chloe.
Brainiac’s going Terminator on Kal-El? Nice cliffhanger.

Not the greatest episode, but the Jimmy Bond stuff was entertaining.

Episode 718 - Apocalypse
Why did Brainiac need Kara to go back?
Clark really needs to stop blaming himself for everything that ever happened to anyone.
And I think Jor-El is about to make that same point.
Looks like Jonathan and Martha adopted a few years later in this timeline.

So, they photoshopped that picture to replace Clark with “Clark”?
“Clark” thinks Clark is nuts.
Clark, of course Chloe wouldn’t remember you.
So, either Chloe didn’t meet Jimmy in this timeline or they didn’t meet again after Chloe’s internship.
Why’s Jimmy stalking Lois?
Jimmy has Chloe’s desk?
With all the continuity callbacks this season, I’m surprised they didn’t say that Lana married Jason.
“Put your camera back in your pants Olsen.”
Kara?
President Luthor?
Wait, I thought Lex was only a couple years older than Clark. He shouldn’t be old enough to be president yet.

There was still a meteor shower? Oh, probably because of Kara’s ship.
Wait, if there was still a meteor shower? How would Chloe and Lana have survived high school without Clark dealing with meteor freaks?
"I guess you didn’t get the memo that said ‘Why should I tell you?’ " Slam “That’s a good answer.”
The Ace of Clubs again? Are they making this a recurring set like Ollie’s Clocktower is?
Sheriff Adams?
Nice save, Clark. Guess he doesn’t have to worry about keeping his powers secret in this timeline.

“The threat is as phony as my uncle’s hairpiece.”
They’re moving Lex to the SGC?
Brainiac is Lex’s Chief of Staff?
No Terminator reference from Lois?
“You’re still going to stick out like a red and blue thumb.”
LOL at Lois trying to peek when Clark’s changing.
This is the first time I’ve really seen Tom Welling as The Clark Kent (chronologically. He was good in Homecoming too) rather than Young Superman.
Lex is like Kara’s brother? Who found her when she landed?
Oh, I suppose she wasn’t as impacted by being found by Lionel as Clark Luthor because she was a a teenager when she arrived.
I was wondering if Kara had her memories in this timeline.
Couldn’t Lex use Kara as missile defense? Is that why he’s not worried about retaliation?
“I was sent here to kill you.”
Kara didn’t make the Fine/Brainiac connectionj before/ Is he still going for his Zod resurrection plan in this timeline?

OK, Lex knew more about Brainiac’s plan than I thought.
Awesome kryptonite bullets.
Why would Lex launch before he got to the SGC?
This is Brainiac from the main timeline? Crap.
That sounded more like Jor-El.
Oh, so this was all a simulation?
The effects for Krypton and its sun look a bit… wait, could they be reusing effects from one of the movies?
Oh yeah, Clark and Kara wouldn’t have any powers on Krypton.
“You’re not in Kansas any more.”
No Jor-El and Lara was a bit of a copout.

What’s Lex up to?
Is this how they’re writing out Lana?
Surprised Lex is going on such a blatant fishing expedition.
Kara looks nice here.
Is Kara hearing a beacon or is something physically wrong with her?

OK, not much to the main timeline, but I loved all the nods to the future in Clark’s vision.

One more for the road today. Not sure if I’ll get to Arctic tomorrow, since we’ve got Chuck and The Cape.

Episode 719 - Quest
Still investigating the device from the Lockbox?
Wait, is that Doc Cottle?
Is that the same guy that attacked Lex in Zurich?
Ugh, that was gross.

What is the symbol?
Jimmy, you should really knock first. You could have walked in on Lois with someone.
Understandably disgusted reaction from Chloe.
“Sorry I couldn’t get here faster, but - you know - I have to drive.”
I thought everyone from Veritas was dead. Hell, Lex and Ollie are the only living descendants.
How long was Clark gone? I take it his trip to Krypton wasn’t instantaneous.
Was that Robert Picardo’s voice? Oh now I remember, isn’t he Jason’ dad? He must have faked his own death.

“I guess skywriting is passe.”
The church is in Montreal? Any connection to Lex’s comment about something in Quebec last episode?
So all Doc Cottle found was a maker’s mark and he’s making a big deal about it?
Swann turned the clock’s workings into the cryptograph?
“Cast your eye beneath the surface.” Guessing that’s telling Clark to use his X-ray vision?
Or just lift it. That works too.

He went into hiding after the second meteor shower? I suppose that makes sense.
Edward sounds like a bit too much of a zealot.
Kryptonite in his cane? So Edward wants to “protect” Clark the same way Lionel did in Traveler?
Aren’t painkillers and alcohol a bad combination, Lex?
Doc Cottle understands Lex pretty well.
Thought Cottle said the clock disappeared during World War 2. A bit early for Veritas.
Jimmy might become a good investigative reporter in his own right. A far cry from “Lex is working with the Egyptians.”
“It just looks like a guy in a doorway to me.” Who just happens to have a big S on his chest.
Teague wants to sacrifice Clark for not killing Lex?
How does Teague know so much about Kryptonian society?
Cool effect with the kryptonite filling the grooves of the table.
Ugh, stop having symbols cut into people’s chests, Teague.

Oh, the cryptograph links with the clock to unlock a compartment or something.
LOL at Teague calling back to Lex’s fascination with Warrior Angel as a kid.
That’s what you get for bringing a gun to a sword fight, Lex.
How’d Chloe get there?
Naturally all the kryptonite drained back into the reservoir.
Oh, Ollie sent her a jet. Of course. But why not just send Bart (except that he’s not a regular. )
Wow, Clark, you just annihilated a priceless antique.
But Lex still got the next clue.
Scotland?
Oh, the music. Nice clue, but what was that pentagon thing he got?
To where Luthor Mansion was?
Lionel moved the mansion to try finding the thing?

“The story sounds familiar.” Well, you’ve only been living it for 7 years, Chloe.
Jimmy thinks the symbol means Lex will take control of Clark? I thought they said earlier that it meant Clark and Lex were friends before becoming enemies.
“I know you don’t want to take Lex out but Lex will not hesitate to destroy you when he gets the chance.” Nice speech, Chloe.
Secret compartment in the fireplace? How cliche can you get?
And Lex never noticed that symbol before?
What exactly is that, and is it pointing Lex to the Fortress?

I got grossed out by all the chest carving, but it was still pretty cool.

Episode 720 - Arctic
What’s Teague up to now?
He really doesn’t look like an “Alejandro Santos”
What’s Kara doing on the plane? Especially since she was in so much pain the last time we saw her.
“You know, for the last surviving member of a secret society, you’re not a very good liar.”
That seems a bit extreme for Kara.
How did the engine get damaged?
Nice effect with Kara tearing out the back of the plane.
The teams disappeared? Is Jor-El icing them?
“It’ll make National Geographic look like a $0.10 travel brochure.”
Lex is cashing in already?
“It’s impossible to break her full court power of the press.” Nice basketball analogy.
What’s Lex trying to feed Lois?
Lois gave Clark an application for the Daily Planet? Nice.
Kara killed 3 people?
Super hearing on the recording? Nice again.

Doesn’t Kara usually go blue shirt/red jacket like Clark does? Bizarro Kara maybe?
She can’t touch the orb thing?
Red kryptonite kara? That’d be interesting.
Awesome catch from Clark.
Ace of Clubs again?
“Either he’s planning a hostile takeover of Santa’s workshop or he’s doing something illegal.”
Now Kara’s going to Lex? Trying to sabotage him?
Revealing her secret? That’s awfully reckless.
Lex was quick to repair the part of the fireplace he tore out last episode.
This really doesn’t sound right.
Only a human can touch the orb? That makes some sense.

Chloe’s going to try trapping Kara?
Jimmy thinks he’s going to be Lex’s passenger?
Bargains with Lex are never that simple, Jimmy.
Glad Jimmy’s manning up.
He bought that line of bullshit?
“Check the expiration date?”
Brainiac? Why didn’t I see that coming? Did he infect her on Krypton then take over when Kara collapsed a couple episodes ago?
He’s going to mindfrak Chloe like he did Lana?
“What the hell are you?” WTF? Effects looked a bit like Chloe’s healing power, but that doesn’t make any sense.
I would have lost it if Lex had said “She’ll catch up” when his minion asked why they weren’t waiting for his passenger.
So, Brainiac got Chloe after all.
And Clark just figured it out.
Guess taking Chloe out took most of Brainiac’s power from how weak he looks now.

Recharging? Nice.
Awesome punch.
Not much to this fight. That’s a bit disappointing.
Did Brainiac put Kara in the Zone?
“You’re not a man.”
Shouldn’t that just charge Brainiac?
Nice effect, but I hope we see Brainiac as a villain again. He’s on the same level as the Luthors.
Wait, shouldn’t Kara be able to get out of the Zone the same way Clark did?
Lana’s gone?
Why would she send a Dear Clark letter? Kind of out of nowhere.
What was the point of Lois in this scene?

Jimmy seems more awkward than usual here.
Proposal? That’s way out of left field.
Hospital gift shop? Seems more like something out of one of those toy machines you put quarters into.
DDS? Seems a bit brutal for the government.
“She went from life support to life without parole in less than a day.”
Lex in the Fortress? Knew it was building to this, but damn.
“I must admit, Clark. This is a big step up from the barn.”
“It’s a brilliant disguise, Clark. You don’t even need a mask.” Or glasses.
This scene is so badass.
“I’m sorry, Clark. But you are the Traveler. You hold the future of the entire planet in your hands. I’m here to take it back.”
Where did Lex hear the name Kal-El? I don’t think Brainiac mentioned it.
“I love you like a brother, Clark, but it has to end this way.”
So it self-destructed the fortress? How does that let Lex control Clark?

That last scene was frakking epic. The whole episode was good, but that last scene sealed it.

Where’d everyone go? I’m on a MacGyver disc now and have a busy weekend, but I should be starting Season 8 Sunday at the latest.

I’ve been reading, but not posting. Sorry if you’re not feeling loved. ):

We’re reading and enjoying!

My computer died somewhere in your season 7 viewing. I’ve been trying to catch up now I got my computer back. But I have to say, my memory of many second half of season 7 are pretty faded. Thought Arctic with black BRAINIAC oozing out of Chloe is an imagery that I won’t forget.

So Kara leaving, Lana leaving and Lex doesn’t remember what happened? Is that the conclusion to season 7? Man, how did we get to season 10 from there? XD

Episode 801 - Odyssey
Awesome “Previously” segment.
They gave Martian Manhunter the “Season premiere” voiceover? That’s random
Tess!
Acting CEO? Did that ever become official or can Clone Lex step in whenever he wants?
Ollie and TJ. Nice.
“There’s a reason the cowboys won the West.”
AC too? Nice.
The red jacket?
Nice cut to the credits.
Who is the random buy in the credits? Looks like the player character from The Force Unleashed.
Wow, huge changes to the cast this season.

Nice outfit, Lois.
They put dust covers on everything after 1 month?
What’s on the lash drive?
“I’m as much a secretary as you are a French maid.”
Lois asking if Tess was Lex’s “4 PM booty call” has all sorts of unpleasant implications now.
Looking for Chloe?
Wow, Lois and Tess hit it right off, didn’t they?
Are they downloading the Intersect into Chloe’s brain?
Brainiac took up residence in Chloe?
“I don’t deserve to be held in some low rent Gitmo wannabe.”
Chloe hasn’t lost a step.
This isn’t a government facility, is it?
Nice high speed technobabble from TJ.
They co-opted Isis? Did Ollie sell the Clocktower?
“Clark would never give up on us. We’re not giving up on him.”
Russia?
Why does Clark owe the guy money?
No powers?

“What’s the news from your elves at the North Pole?”
It does sound like Lex and Tess were rather… close.
Cell phone numbers?
Wow, their agents got in place fast.
Chloe just recognized Ollie’s phone number and figured everything out.
Ollie went in as himself? OK, he has an alias, but wouldn’t a multi-billionaire international businessman be a bit recognizable?
“What’s the matter, Clark? Your batteries run out?”
Clark does remember? I thought he lost his memory again.

“Better than Lex walking around with the remote control to a Clark-Bot.” Guess Ollie knows the whole story now.
“And you’re kinda… useless.” Well, if this is like the last time he lost his powers, Clark should still have super-whining. :stuck_out_tongue:
Does Clark have a way to contact Martian Manhunter?
Love TJ and AC baiting this guy.
“You’re lying through your gills, Mr. Curry.”
Why don’t they call Bart and Victor for help now that they have a target?
Lois? Nice punch.
“Feminine charm… Yes, I do have some.”
Clark’s snarky without his powers.

Thought the guy said the meteor mind control thing didn’t last long.
Ollie’s going to kill Clark?
WTF, the arrow went through Clark?
Chloe’s healing power is gone? Well, that sucks.
You’re about 5 minutes late, Manhunter.
Nice flight.

“Sometimes I feel like I need to be two separate people.”
The sun took the Manunter’s powers?
Love the big heroic theme for Clark puting on the old red jacket.
Tess is moving in already?
Tess has the Fortress seed?
Chloe’s taking speed reading to a whole new level.
She was going to say yes, dummy.
OK, even if Chloe/Jimmy doesn’t work out, I think romantic Chlark is officially off the table.
Lex isn’t “dead” yet?
“Pretty soon you’ll be sporting a homemade costume and leading a double identity just like the rest of us.” So is this going to be the anvil they keep dropping on our heads like flight was last year?
“You might want to try something a little more form fitting.” TJ’s got a crush.
“Looks like we’re going to be neighbors, Lane.”

Well, big changes this season. I think this is probably the real dividing point between Smallville and “Metropolis”. Always love the Justice League episodes. Not sure why they decided to have Martian Manhunter lose his powers, but I hope we get to see him more this season. They did lots of work to set stuff up for the season even if we haven’t seen random opening credits guy yet.

Oh, this is that season… He’s in the NA version of Being Human too.

Wait, they actually said she lost it, or did they proved or show it (as in she tried and couldn’t)? Because I remember it being inconclusive.

She tried to save Clark’s life after Ollie punched an arrow all the way through his chest.

Just finished Plastique and started listening to the SHoE episode for it and they’re talking about whether a lightsaber with kryptonite as its focusing crystal could kill Superman.

My comments up in a few minutes.

Episode 802 - Plastique
Well, working at the Daily Planet didn’t change Clark’s wardrobe.
“The phone booth is not exactly private.”
Speaking of a bomb on Clark’s first day.
Not exactly a subtle emergency exit, Clark.
What was Tess doing on a bus.
“Guess this must be my stop.”

Surprised Lois hasn’t found Clark and told him “less rescuing, more reporting” yet.
The guy Clark borrowed the shirt from is gonna be pissed.
Chloe’s giving up journalism?
No casualties?
A year ago Lois was working at a tabloid and now she’s giving journalistic advice?
“You weren’t this shy when I was a damsel in distress, Kent.”
“Lex told me all about you.” Crap.
Nice dodge, Clark.
“I saw how this job consumed Lex’s life. I’d hate to see the same thing happen to yours.”

Wow, Metropolis actually has a hospital? From earlier seasons, I never would have guessed.
15 years old? Then what’s with the tattoos?
Davis seems like a nice guy.
Bette called Chloe a girl scout? Well, Clark’s Boy Scout, so I can see that.
“You think I have a charming smile?” Already stepping up the Clark/Lois banter.
No explosive material?
Bette has good hearing.
“I’ll wait in the car.” Come on, no one ever stays in the car, girl.
Flammable barrels? This won’t end well.
Uh oh, looks like it was actually her.

She got Clark an obituary?
“You know if you just reach a little bit higher … you’re definitely going to need an ambulance.” I’m liking Davis
And it looks like Chloe does too.
Davis knows about meteor freaks? Well, I suppose even Metropolis ambulance jocks would have encountered some weird shit since the meteor showers.
“And I’m engaged.” Well, OK then.
LuthorCorp knows about Bette? 33.1 prisoner?
Varro’s back.
Lois has a bunch of stolen security keycards and they’re still active?
Davis thinks Clark’s engaged to Chloe? Well, I can see how he could have gotten that impression.
Oh yeah, Clark doesn’t know yet.
Um, Bette, you already left Metropolis. You’re in Smallville.

Last week? Bette was at the same place LuthorCorp kept Chloe?
Nice effect on Bette’s heat vision.
Good job talking her down, Clark.

Clark seems a bit hurt that Chloe didn’t tell him.
That hug was awkward.
Tess is a bit of a bitch at this point.
She’s building her own Justice League?
Lois proofreading Clark’s stories?
Oh, and Lois made her hair darker now. Was wondering when that would happen.
Davis is naked in an alley? WTF?

Good episode for establishing Davis. They’ve definitely turned up the Clark/Lois banter and I’m getting a kick out of it. I might have some trouble with context switching between S8 Tess and S10 Tess when Smallville comes back next week.

After I watch an episode, I go to the KryptonSite forum to see other people’s comments on the episode, and two episodes in, soneone’s already suggested that Tess could be Lex’s sister Lena (which they just revealed this season). I know it’s random, but I thought it was kind of funny that someone called it so early on.

The thing about Kryptonsite is the forumers covers speculation from every angle. If i am the writer of smallville, i’ll never visit that place, because after going there, there is no way to come up with something new. I mean the Chlark fans came up with Lois will die and Chloe will take over Lois’ identity and become the new Lois after losing her memories. I mean, they really covered all their bases. There are comic buffs that knew Profession Fine is BRAINIAC before he was even shown to be evil.

raises hand

I knew who Emil Hamilton was too. d:

Yeah, Gaeta with an extra leg. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s an interesting idea but the only way I could have seen Chloe becoming Lois is if she had stayed “dead” in Season 4 (really in witness protection with the new name “Lois Lane”), then met Clark again at the Daily Planet in Season 5 or something like that.

Episode 803 - Toxic
“Clark, you see her more than I see Jimmy and we’re engaged.”
Chloe thinks Clark has a thing for Tess?
Did someone poison Ollie?

Glad Chloe trusts Ollie that much.
“Lois Lane? I haven’t fired you yet?”
Tess has something against Ollie? Or was she just baiting Lois?
Calling then using super hearing to listen for the ring? Nice move.
Ollie’s date was poisoned too? So much for her being in on it.

“Normally I don’t eat anything with more than 99 legs on it, but…”
So, flashback on the Green Arrow origin story?
And he’s even wearing a hood?
Sweet slow motion on Ollie splitting an arrow with another arrow.
Love how Lois instantly started reeling out a hangover remedy.
How does Lois know how well Chloe knows Ollie?
Tess was on that island?
Marine biologists know about plant toxins?
Kidnapped?
“That girl’s living proof that Oliver doesn’t know what he’s talking about. … Code Blue!” Shouldn’t find that funny, but I do.
Same toxin?

Stuck on the island for two years?
“This is you backing out on your end of the deal.” Seriously, Lois?
Chloiac technobabble.
Between her makeup and the lighting, Chloe looks kind of freaky here.
“I know that right now you’re making a list in your head of all the ways this could be your fault, but please… don’t.” Yeah, I bet he is, Chloe.
Tess recognizes the plant.
Wait, Ollie recognized the symptoms, didn’t he?
Lab was relocated? Is this Tess’ way of testing if Clark has powers?

Wait, how much does Tess know about Ollie?
Nice, Ollie’s MacGyvering up a bow and arrow.
“You want to live? Crawl down to the leach pond and make some new friends.”
Queen Industries lab with the antidote? Nice cover.
Ollie thinks they’re going after Tess too?
Looks like he was right.
The kidnapper lived?
Love Tess kicking the guy’s ass.

“And I was his first save.” Looks like Tess/Ollie’s going to be fun too.
She still has the bracelet?
Why didn’t Ollie react to the Veritas logo on the window?
I take it they didn’t split amicably.
Tess gave Ollie evidence that Lionel killed his parents?
“I may have played nurse with Oliver but it never progressed to doctor.”
“I’d rather avoid a ride on the Clark and Lana roller coaster.” Me too, Lois.
LOL at all the Superman/Lois foreshadowing here.
Davis found the Proto-Watchtower?
Yeah, Davis, you do have a hidden side. You randomly collapse naked in alleys.
Alcohol arc for Ollie?
Wow, Ollie lost it.
Damn, Tess is cold. “They’ll know what to do with him.”
“No Mercy” Did Tess know Lionel too?

A bit weaker than the past two episodes, but not bad. Did a lot more to establish Tess and Oliver.

I love that. But Chloe still needs to loose her memory of Clark to be the perfect Lois. Anyway, it’s too late now. Chlois theorists can stop dreaming since Lois is already so established in the show.

I really liked Tess/Ollie. I don’t remember if they ever explained why they split up.

Collapsing naked in alleys can only be good if Davis is from the future…

I actually framed out some ideas for this after they mentioned that theory in the Season 6 DVD.

Season 4 -
Clark takes over at the Torch in Chloe’s memory rather than going out for football.
Alicia is around longer (or another new character) since both Chloe and Pete would be gone for the season and Lois wouldn’t be around either.
Perry shows up and returns the favor he owes Clark by arranging for him to get a part time job at the Planet when he starts at Met U.

Season 5 -
Mortal arc works out in a similar way.
Episode 4 starts with orientation at the Daily Planet. The HR person is taking names, and a familiar voice says she’s Lois Lane. Clark turns around to see Chloe with dark hair.
Clark and Lois are also both in the same section of a journalism course taught by Dr. Milton Fine.
They catch up a bit over the first couple episodes, but Clark has to keep her secret from everyone in Smallville, which stresses his relationship with Lana (who is worried he’s cheating on her with the “Lois” he talks about so much)
Fine threatens to reveal Chloe/Lois secret if she doesn’t help him find out about Clark.
She steals the Fortress key from the barn for Fine, who then takes her to the Fortress as bait to draw in Clark.
She finds out about Clark’s powers in his confrontation with Brainiac (equivalent of Solitude in the current plot).

That’s pretty awesome. Though I of course always wish the plot will evolve to end at the classical start of Superman stories. There’s a few requirements that I want to see.

  1. Lois doesn’t know Clark, at least not well, before they meet at the Daily Planet. The fact that Lois gets to know Clark and Superman at the same time is what makes classical Superman stories so much fun.

  2. Clark has to fall in love with Lois when he starts at the Daily Planet. Again, having Clark in love with Lois, but Lois reoccupied with her crush on Superman is what makes classical Superman stories fun.

With those two points in mind, my take on the Chlois is that while Chloe still remembers Clark as her high school best friend, she will learn of Clark’s secret. She will try to save Clark’s life/secret while she is still under witness protection, and in doing so receive damage that cost her memory. Clark falling in love with her because of what Chloe was willing to do for him. Since Chloe now lost her memory, she is no longer useful as a witness, so Lex arranged her to take on a new identity.

From that point on it will connect to exactly your ideas. But the difference is now this Lois Lane won’t know who Clark is.

Episode 804 - Instinct
Tess is studying the Fortress Seed?
Tess is skeptical about the alien stuff Lex has been obsessing about for the past few seasons.
OK, maybe not so skeptical now.
Woah.
She thinks this random d-bag is Clark?
Kiss of death, literally.
Did Jor-El set up an arranged marriage for Clark?

Shelby.
Clark still has Lana’s necklace?
Wow, my cell phone seems to be all over the place on TV.
“I’m flying into the building right now.” Not literally, yet.
Clark forgot to feed Shelby.
Or not.
Is Lois trying to trick Clark into letting her move in again?
Lois hit what happened on the nose there, even though she doesn’t realize it.
LOL at this Chloe/Jimmy scene.
Jimmy found the note from when Clark was sick in Season 2?
Why does Chloe still have the note?
Naturally Ollie sent Tess a green dress.
“I’m afraid you crashed the wrong disco.”
OK, so the kiss of death isn’t her only power?
Yeah, she’s a bit obsessive.

Nice investigative technique Clark.
Lois isn’t quite right here, but she’s still pretty close.
Maxima thinks Jimmy is Clark?
And naturally Chloiac recognized the symbol right away.
Is there really not anything Clark can do, or does Chloe not want Clark to “cure” her?
Glad Jimmy is coming to his senses.
Are they seriously going to kill off Jimmy? If Chloe still had her healing power, I think she’d be able to bring him back.
Maybe Chloiac will be able to figure out a cure.
Love Clark dodging through the dance floor at super speed and Maxima turning around.
Now that I think about it, something like that would have made a good teaser. Clark trying to rescue someone at superspeed and someone turning when Clark goes out of frame.

Tess wants Chloe to hack the Fortress Seed?
Love how calmly Chloe is telling Tess to go to hell.
So human medical technology can save someone from the kiss of death if they get there fast enough.
Clark doesn’t know anything about the letter, does he?
Clark’s a good friend to both Chloe and Jimmy.
You’re about to get a much better look at Maxima, Clark.
Does her kiss give her mind control abilities too?
They’re going to break the elevator and Lois is going to show up, right?
OK, well half right.
“I am calm!” Doesn’t sound like it.
Are Clark and Lois starting to lie to themselves about each other?
Nice throw. Maxima is a bit vindictive, isn’t she?

“You may not know it yet, but believe me, there’s a bond.”
SWAT team? Well, we don’t know if she’s invulnerable, but playing rough with Clark in the elevator suggests it.
I’m starting to think that Tess is smarter than Lex.
“We had a close encounter this afternoon.”
Tess just showed Clark the Fortress seed? I have a feeling she’ll “lose” it soon.
Just thought of something. Did Jor-El go back to the caves or is he still in the crystal?
That was a LuthorCorp security team, not a SWAT team?
“Bring it, bitch.”
At least Maxima didn’t find Zod.
No one on Earth may be Clark’s physical equal, but there’s way more to it than that.
Smooth, Clark, but that was a bit anti-climactic.
If Maxima comes back, I doubt she’ll be so … “friendly”.
“I can’t say I’m thrilled that he macked on an alien goddess.”
“So you blew it, bud.”
Chloe wants Clark to give her away? Where’d her dad go?
Chloe’s going to pretend to go along with Tess and steal the Fortress seed?
Love Tess’ workout clothes.
Did Maxima take the crystal?
Funny that Clark is having this conversation with Lois.
Lois is moving back in to the house?
Well, that message was certainly cryptic.

My least favorite episode of the season so far. I appreciate the continuity with the letter, but the only plot that was really advanced was Tess having the Fortress seed. Might not have minded as much if it was a Valentines Day episode instead of so early in the season.
