Worst of the season so far, but not awful. The bimbos were a bit boring, but they weren’t the worst freaks ever.
I think they might have a too many characters to be able to tell good stories on an hour. They are all new all needs attention, all needs to be explained. It’s not like Martha, and Jonathan, or even lionel who we just know who they are and what they stand for. I really like kara, I am on the fence about jimmy.
Well, Kara’s the only completely new character this season, but you’re right that Martha didn’t have all that many A plots.

Great mythology episode. Surprised the Kents recovered the crystal so soon, but it turned things in some unexpected directions.
Might not have been mentioned before in this seroes. But, I believe that’s from the comics.
The comics origin of Brainiac is convoluted and contradictory. Smallville’s version is probably most closely related to that of the recent cartoons.
Same can be said for most DC characters. They go through more retcons that Spinal Tap goes through drummers.
I’m not sure Marvel is as bad though. Other than updating history (like serving in the Gulf War instead of Vietnam for example), they seem more consistent with their primary characters.

Wow, just wow. Awesome episode. Seemed a bit rushed, but that’s just because there was so much awesomeness crammed into it. This felt like a midseason cliffhanger, but it’s too early in the season for that. Great cliffhangers with Kara’s amnesia, the Julian (clone?) reveal, and Jor-El punishing Clark in some way.
