Skiffi

I could probably watch that all day long. Enough things that I might try out and a lot of good old gloves.

Exactly what I meant. It’s not so difficult to make good programming choices.

I actually liked Sliders up until the point where they killed off the professor.

That was one of the places where the show went wrong, although they could have worked around it. Remember the episode with the two Professors? The writers could have just established that the wrong Professor had gone with Quinn then have the original Professor create a sliding device of his own and find the group.

Excellent rant, Solai! Thanks for clearing up my bafflement. Now someone needs to pull a Sarah Connor and bust into the home of a Scifi exec and learn ‘im sumthin’!!

Well the network has fundamental problems,

It costs a lot to make science fiction content; and the market is smaller than mainstream shows. Ever wonder why sitcoms have always been the backbone of TV its cause there cheap to make and hits a very broad audience.

Take farscape it was one of there first shows that hit big for the network, but even a very popular Sci-Fi show couldn’t recoup the costs for production, let alone profits. That being said DVD sales are higher for most sci-fi. And continuing with the farscape example

The network gave it a good shot, I mean we got four years, and later the peacekeeper wars. So although I was pissed cause Farscape was awesome, I believe network tried. And I give them credit for that.

Now to BSG, Well…
They screwed us, since the start, I have never seen a network, work so hard to milk a series and there fans. This is a little harsh, but were finishing up a year long Break, they give us ten episodes and than in all likelihood another year break. Not to mention the outright doubling of DVD costs for season 2. I understand two DVD sets for a season; they should just be under 25 bucks when you do it. Not to mention I would put a quarter on them doing the same for season 4.

Most of this I could forgive though cause if not for sci-fi we might not have had BSG or Farscape, and there a serious business concerns to be dealt with in order to stay afloat.

I only need them to apologize for the pre-mentioned Screwing of us.

We are sorry that we don’t have any other prestige shows to replace it so we have to push back on the episodes we have. Again were sorry about this and were working hard on getting it to you, our customers as quickly as possible.

And ounce of honesty and some contrition would go a long way for me.

(Sorry for the whole rant thing)

You know, if we weren’t totally devoted fans of scifi and BSG, we would never have put up with how skiffy has been treating us all along. You have a year-long break in any other show, your fans are GONE!

Apparently, you haters haven’t seen Rock Monster.

(total sarcasm there, just to be clear.)

I suspect fans of 24 will return after their more than a year break.

If they want to appeal to a broader audience (you know, if they wanted to make more money or something) they can’t pull this kind of shtuff. They are alienating any mainstream audience that this show had the potential to attract. And did they run ads for BSG during Heroes, because that seems to make sense to me.

I think it’s very telling that ECW is the top-rated program on Sci-Fi.

Yeah, the majority of the population of this planet (that watch tv in the US :))have no taste. Also, NBC stinks. They are the ones making SciFi into the channel that it is.

I wouldn’t know what NBC has to do with Skiffy, but I agree completely with the first part. Humanity deserves to be raided by evil three-eyed aliens just because of bad TV taste.

They own it.

but I agree completely with the first part. Humanity deserves to be raided by evil three-eyed aliens just because of bad TV taste.

All hail the hypnotoad!
