I think new BSG episodes with air in Feb. 08 because Feb. is a sweeps month, which gives us more time. Anyone know when the DVDs will come? When I ask at Barnes &Noble, they don’t show anything, but Razor does come up. I can deal with iTunes if need be.
I heard they are coming out in mid-October but don’t quote me on that. Nice to see I’m not the only one in AZ.
I’m trying to get Atomic Comics to host a Frak party when the season starts, or even one for Razor. I’ll keep you posted. Is everyone aware of the great BSG comics? I haven’t been posting for very long, so I apologize if I’m repeating well-known info. They also have a Tom Zarek comic. Very cool.
FYI, after all the discussion here I’ve updated the calendar to roll our re-watch directly into season three after the end of season 2.5 later this month. With a week’s break to let everyone focus on Razor, that puts us through the entire canon on the 25th of February.
I figure since we have no idea when in February BSG season four will launch – or even that it will for sure – I’m going to just leave the re-watch scheduled the way it is right now. As we get closer and SciFi announces the exact dates – assuming the premiere happens sometime before Feb. 25th – we’ll double up a few episodes to make everything work out.
Wow. It’ll be crazy getting new BSG every week next year.
…but how will we watch Season Three without DVDs? Is everyone willing and able to get them from iTunes? Just wondering since I don’t want to miss anything.
If you poke around a bit, you’ll find a torrent of options online.
And if you’re going to do the iTunes route, get them all by the end of the year, as that’s when NBC’s contract with Apple ends.
One more episode to go and I will have the canon saved from there…
Well, like a small number of folks who have already posted, I guess I’ll have to miss the season 3 podcasts.
I can’t wrap my head around paying iTunes for the episodes, then going and purchasing the DVDs when they come out.
This sucks because I really look forward to the podcast every week.
OH - and when is this evening/early morning airings that Sci-fi is doing? In looking at the website, the next airing of BSG is on 23NOV. Did I miss something?
Amber: As you may have noticed recently, the 'cast isn’t all about the rewatch. Sure, we spend a bit of each one discussing the week’s rewatch, but there’s lots of other interesting stuff happening as well.
But if you’re looking for, um, other ways of snagging season three, try PMing some of the people in this thread who may be able to help.
It’s not like I haven’t already seen the episodes, LOL!
And I don’t think I can go without the cheeky banter for that long
(I feel like such an mid 90’s AOLer)
Me too please!

Or point us at the right webpage(s) on the interwebs.
EDIT: I didn’t notice the other 3 pages after the first one. I have had no sleep. bah.
It’s okay. There are some PC based solutions as well that the folks at DL.TV have talked about recently. I mostly brought up Mac solutions because, well, I use a Mac.
You can check out some possibilities available from Pinnacle Systems at http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Home/
At a minimum this fills the gap created by NBC Universal relative to pulling BSG and other shows off of iTunes for 2008. With these tools you can record the shows and play them back on whatever device you like whether it is a Zune or an iPod or a PSP. I can only speak directly to stuff by elgato because that is what I am using personally.
You know…I just thought of a simple free and legal solution to this:
Online transcripts
I of course am assuming that everyone has already seen the episode, so if that assumption is correct all you need is a quick recap of the episode. Scanning the transcript should do the trick, no?
Transcripts are considered a derivative work, so they wouldn’t be technically legal (some sites have done them though.)
However, a link back to the BSWiki episode page should do the trick.
I will concur. The BSWiki pages were all I had for a while from when the third season started until I returned to North America and could watch Sci-Fi. Such provides the gist without violating some of the nastier I-P rules.
For those who can’t do iTunes, I think TV Squad has episode summaries in their BSG archives. The few I’ve read before for other shows and they are pretty detailed. I’ve used it for 24 and was able to step into the next episode without missing a beat.
As for Sci-Fi broadcasts, I’m not seeing any here in AZ, I checked the entire week for one and saw nothing. I think I missed the window. I finally just bought the season from iTunes.
Television Without Pity also has very detailed recaps, if you don’t mind some editorial comment mixed in (I find it entertaining).
“Some” editorial comment? Steer me clear of anything that you think has a LOT of editorial comment!
They are very enjoyable reads by very knowledgeable writers, but they are VERY long and EXTREMELY opinionated.
How abou a re-listen to GWC along with the re-watch, now that we are into Season 3? It’s fun to hear the thoughts and impressions when the shows were new. I just listened to GWC #8 (Occupation/Precipice), and was struck by your visitor’s comment (sorry, I forget his name), “What if Tigh is a Cylon?” This is probably not the only instance when our fearless leaders have speculated in the ways that become very interesting now that the season is done.
Maybe you could post a quick link to the corresponding “first watch” podcast each time a new podcast is posted, so lazy folk like me don’t have to go hunting through the vast archives?
Love the show – keep up the great work!
