Probably gonna be a slightly late day at work for me… I’ll be back 8-ish. Too bad… it’s a beautiful day outside. I wanna go out side and PLAY!!!
Love the tension in this scene. The music builds and builds, higher and higher, and then… it eases dramatically. You just know that everything’s going to be OK now.
Naughty. Naughty Norman.
Well, I woulda done that also. But I’m naughty. Not so much the mother and stabbing though.
used to check my back seat for Norman Bates every time I got into the car at night. no, really
Next week, we’re gonna start at 10 EST. Once Castle’s finale airs.
Cool.
By the way… I wanted to ask around: Grosse Point Blank frak party, who’s with me?
what’s on the program?
Can anyone guess what the stabbing sound is?
And BTW the blood is chocolate syrup. Red blood color did not photograph well in B n’ W.
me me me me me!!!
I love how he shows the money wrapped newspaper. What a story-teller!!
Orson Welles in ‘Citizen Kane’
Great flick. When do you what to do that? A Sunday night, perhaps?
It really was. It was shot-for-shot. It added nothing of any value.
I always loved A&C but never liked their monster movies. It seemed like they cheapened the terror that the monsters represented, IMO.
It seems like they’ve learned their lessons recently, though. I can’t think of a remake from the last few years that hasn’t been very well done by someone who cared about the original.
You know, Lady Macbeth should have called Norman to do the cleaning? Would have saved so much trouble. He gets rid of blood so easily.
I’ve actually never seen it. :o
How about Thursday?
Never really looked at it that way since I was 8 when I first watched it. But yeah you’re right.
Well, they have Forbidden Planet queued and another that I erased from my memory when I heard. Honestly I don’t even remember what film. I just know I was so shocked they were planning on re-making my mind seized.
It’s a cello, isn’t it?
And BTW the blood is chocolate syrup. Red blood color did not photograph well in B n’ W.
It’s such an amazing scene. At first glance, it’s both sexualized and brutally violent, but looking at it closely, there’s no nudity and the knife never even comes near her.
See how he keeps the camera on the truck. Brilliant!
Hehe.
Someone stabbing a melon.
His mother taught him well.
Yeah, the more I think of it, there have been a few misfires recently. The Day the Earth Stood Still was a major one; not that the new one was bad necessarily, but it wasn’t remotely the same movie. I’m OK with remakes and reimaginings, but true classics like this, Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Gone with the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, etc., really should be left alone, IMO.
