Podcast Audio Quality

Chuck, Thanks for posting those specs…

I do have a couple of Recording questions…

!. Are you familiar enough with Audacity to advise me how best to leverage it for recording voice only audio? Meaning, I have a need to set up a digital recording system (of course there is no budget to speak of) for a Focus group room…( like a police interrogation room with the one way glass and people sitting behind it.) right now it is set up for recording to cassette, but I need the recordings to be Digital. I have a couple of older but not obsolete desktop computers that i can make use of.

The existing Amp in the Back room is a Bogen Classic seris C-1-MOH http://www.bogen.com/products/pdfs/mixerampspdfs/C10s.pdf

the existing 2 Mic’s are U841A Omnidirectional Condenser Boundary Microphone

if you could set me upon the proper path, I would appreciate it.

2nd And Most important… I will need the mp3’s to be of Clear audio, but the smallest possible file (while still being Mp3)

Any help will be appreciated… I am willing to read to learn, but am not sure even where to start…

This is an old thread, but seems appropriate to write in.

Chuck:
Your setup sounds for the most part very good. Good sounding mics and a not too reverby room does a lot, and you obviosly know your stuff plus have some nice equipment.

I just wondered if you use a lot of expanders on the tracks? I find that Sean sort of disappears down into a small audio-puddle at the end of his rants.
I feel bad for complaining, but I really have a hard time hearing what he is saying at times, and it sounds to me like maybe he is being expanded away.

If he is being expanded you might want to have a look at the threshold for his tracks?

(Maybe flatlining is a better word than audio-puddle? Works for us who see a lot of audio on screens alot)
