Planet of the Apes (1968) 1/16 @ 1 PM ET

Sounds good to me…but your announcement says it’s for the 2001 version.

Fixed that. Thanx Gryper.

Oops.

Thanks, 'Talos.

I just read through the thread and I’m surprised no one mentioned Jerry Goldsmith’s soundtrack. Eerie and magnificent, I love it. It totally sets the tone and mood of the film.

As a child, I fell in love with this film. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. Like TG said, it left a huge impression on me. Every film in the series have their moments.

Just made it home. Getting dvd loaded now.

Every performance in this is great, especially Linda Harrison (for obvious reasons). I think she played a huge…ahem…huge factor in my love for sci-fi babes. Kim Hunter, for those who don’t know, also played STELLLLLLAAAAA!!! from ‘Streetcar named Desire’.

Have you started yet? If so, time please!

BTW, Rod Serling worked on this screenplay. It’s no wonder it’s amazing.

Just started @ :15

Guess they aren’t using pure oxygen in that spaceship…if he’s smoking a cigar.

Dianne Stanley, the actress who plays Stewart, doesn’t even get a credit. Her character was supposed to be a man until one of the producers pointed out the problems with that.

And he stuck it in his pocket.

OK everyone. Hold out your arms and fly. WOOOOOOHOOOOO!!

I feel dizzy!

Franklin J. Schaffner, the director, and many of the producers felt this was a political satire and commentary but kept that quiet during the promotion and release of the film.

What a great job of camera work during the Stewart reveal, so disturbing and reckless.

November 25, 3978! 2006 years after their launch.

It really gets your attention when they go from lots of noise to exterier views in dead silence.

I love that this film focuses on Taylor. It is shown from his perspective. We are to relate to him, we are strangers in this strange land.

The vast, long shots create a feeling of desolation. Great job.
