PC Games

EQ: Bristlebane/Erudite/Necromancer

I play Lord of the Rings online most of the time with some KOTOR and half life thrown in for fun. I just built a new rig last week and am looking for something new may pick up Mass Effect not sure. any suggestions?

If you liked KOTOR and Half Life, I think that you’d really enjoy Mass Effect.

My short list isn’t too different from many other people here (fancy that!):

KOTOR
Mass Effect
Fable
Civ 4: Beyond the Sword
Spore
Puzzle Pirates

Oh and I also can’t wait for The Old Republic and maybe more so Mass Effect 2!

My top recent games are:

Mass Effect
Civ 4: Beyond the Sword
Silent Hunter III
Total War: Rome
Total War: Empire

I have been toying with playing Fable. Should I start with #1 or skip to #2?

Is anyone using DOSbox to run their old PC games? I want to know how well it works before I download and install it on my computer. But I wanna be able to play my old Apogee games…Duke Nukem or Commander Keen anyone?

I recommend starting with 1. There are elements of 2’s story that are a direct result of events you experience and people you meet in 1. But I think more than the continuity of the story, it would be good to start with 1 just to get the feel of the world. I also felt that 1 was more challenging than 2, but I’m also wondering if that is only because 1 helped me become a more prepared Fable player.

Regardless of the order you choose, I very highly recommend that you pick up Fable: The Lost Chapters - which is just a souped up version of Fable 1 with some additional quests, items and the like.

After a brief stint of heavy-duty GTA IV, I’ve gone back to playing quite a bit of Fallout 3 and its expansions. Other than that, I mostly play turn-based browser RPGs like Kingdom of Loathing and, more recently, the upstart Metroplexity. This summer, when I have slightly more time to waste, I’m probably going to try out Empire: Total War. It looks rather interesting.

Metroplexity looks interesting. A bit too interesting…

Fable 2 is on sale at Best Buy for $29.99. Do yourself a favor and pick it up if you haven’t already.

Sadly I would have to get it for the PC. What is weird is that it looks like they never released Fable I for the PC…but they did release Fable ‘The Lost Chapters’ for the PC.

Someone told me that was the “reworked” Fable 1.

It surprised me. What seems rather sparse at first is actually fairly complex and detailed. Interesting mechanics, too.

Not wanting to pick up a dead thread but…

Eve Online
Fallout III
Red Alert 3
Sins of a Solar Empire

My PC is about 3 years old now and showing it. Latest games are not running so well. Fallout is at it’s lowest level of detail.
(Still that’s what I have a PS3 for)
