Badger, did you like the film?
I did. I was hoping for a bit less of a downer ending, but things worked out in a realistic fashion. Certainly didn’t inspire faith in the French army, assuming such a thing was even possible.
It speaks to our humanity and so many aspects of it. If you do what you’re told and even do it well, you could still be put in front of the firing squad (in this case literally). If you’re a coward, you might get away with it. If you fight for what is right and do it honorably, you still might lose. Nothing is certain, except death.
The film is a great exercise in human relationships: The stubborn bureaucratic establishment vs. the human spirit’s desire for justice.
