I’ve got a bunch of idiot-guide books for podcasting. Just like to know from the horse’s mouth, how much are the start-up costs and time involved? And what is the best bit-rate for recording?

LOL - now I know you were being funny but I tried to watch that movie before I went to Vegas but couldn’t find it anywhere. I wasn’t willing to pay more than a couple bucks for that and since I no longer have Blockbuster in my area…just didn’t happen.
I have the Podcasting for Dummies book here. Right now I can’t answer those questions though. I’m starting slowly. I want to try a blog first to see if I can keep up with that regularly. If I can’t do that I’ll never be able to do a podcast. Also my costs will be a bit different since I’m not paying any server costs at all. My best friend’s boyfriend is doing all my hosting for me. He even registered my domain - and is refusing any money from me unless I become very popular.
I will need, at some point, to get an external mixer. Right now i have a mini usb snowball mike and use Garage Band. I’ve done some audio work for a couple casts but haven’t checked anything like bit rates. I will need to get more into that though. I guess I’ll have to consider documenting my endeavors.
