I just learned about this movie through a review in yesterdayâs Washington Post (of course, itâs not playing ANYWHERE in my area. Frakking multiplexes!). They thought the explanation for a certain plot device ruined the movie, but it still sounded like a pretty good flick to me. I guess Iâll wait for a rental. Sigh!
whew With 'talos posting a thread with this title I was a little afraid to open the thread! I thought for sure he might be trying to âmoonâ us all!
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
if they mention
The dude gets hurt and wakes up and finds that his body is still out on the moon
and bigger spoiler
that he is a actually a clone of himself
those come relatively early in the movie and are not the big twists in the movie.
Yep. Those are the ones. Actually, they kept he second one veiled and just said it was a disappoining and mundane explanation for the first one. But the movie still sounds pretty cool to me. Iâd have to go out of my way and go into downtown D.C. to find a theater showing it, though, since the local multiplexes only have the same five movies playing in 15 different screens. (Seriously, do we really need that many showings of Transformers 2?)
Have I mentioned my burgeoning love for you before? lol!
Yeah, itâs in limited release in Los Angeles⌠I had to go searching for a theatre near me⌠hopefully Iâll catch it this week.
Luckily my local Art house theater down here in little Tallahassee manages to pick up some really awesome indie filmsâŚpretty quickly
:)This was an intelligent and very humane story with a magnificent central performance from Sam Rockwell.
Lotâs of critics have discussed Moonâs allusions to the âexistential sfâ of films like Dark Star, Alien, Silent Running, 2001. In any case, itâs the perfect antidote to the more bombastic cinematic SF of the post-Star Wars era. Anyone who dug BSG will dig Moon.
Has anyone else seen Moon ?
It was out in my area for just a few days, small release and not much advertisements. If I hadnât heard about it on NPR I wouldnât have even known it was out.
I was impressed, it was a good bit of scifi and drama. Virtually the whole movie takes place on the moon with only a few characters, so its very character driven. The plot was good.
The effects where almost completely model work and very well done, good sets for the interior of the base.

Wanted to see it this weekend, but it was already come and gone from our local art house.
Finally saw Moon (thank-you public library) and loved it. My kind of quiet, thoughtful, surprising, tense sci-fi. Great first time direction and a tour de force performance by Rockwell. A perfect tonic for many of todayâs bombastic brainless sci-fi flicks.
Now Iâm totally jonesing for Dunkin Jonesâ 2nd film, Source Code.
I thought this film was excellent. It made a refreshing change from the usual Hollywood stuff.
Hey Just loved this movie and would recommend anyone to spend the time to watch it⌠great british sci fi movieâŚsam rockwell is brillantâŚand a great sound track by clint mansell (PWEI guy)⌠with a great twist at the endâŚ

Armando, have you discovered the E Street Cinema yet? I saw Sunshine there. They often pick up little sci-fi flicks that you canât find elsewhere. Plus all the usual indie fare.
I watched Moon last weekend and really enjoyed it. I really liked the twist on the helper robot trope. Overall, a very good movie. I also recently read Hull Zero Three and felt echoes of that in the scene with the freezers full of Sam Rockwells.
I thought Sam Rockwell was great, but am I the only one who found this movie depressing?
If anyone didnât think the movie was depressingâŚI think that person is a sociopath lawl. Or wasnât paying attention.
Parts of it are sad, yes. But I think the ending was nicely open
It was barren and sad and mysterious. Just like the moon.
Wow, I finally saw this movie. Sure we have seen some of these story elements before but to me this is the perfect packaging of it. I give this a solid stamp of approval. Anyone that is part of this community will enjoy this, I promise.
Not on instant watch, so you have to wait a whole three days for it to be delivered. Do it. Do it now.
