I don’t know why, but I was almost convinced that Jack wouldn’t make it. Ben could have arrived or something. Just to mess with Jacob plan and it would have probably forced Hurley (that clearly said he was glad it wasn’t him) to do it.
And what were the rules between Ben and Widmore? he did kill him at the end. I trust he would have done it in the hotel room a while ago instead of just threatening to kill his daughter.
