"It’s the characters, stupid"-Ron Moore

That seems likely. I’m thinking of the upcoming movie as something like a appndix to the large tome that is BSG.

Well, as discussed, that is certainly what Kate Vernon said in her recent interview.

Here’s my suggestion - many of the “might learn” items over at the “will, might, won’t learn” thread are going to be saved for The Plan.

Especially re Kobol and the gods.

And here’s my prediction (that’s right, no reason to wait for the main series to end) -

If you were John Cavil what would be even better than exterminating all humans? Why, of course, subjugating their pathetic survivors to rule by the Cylons in a god/worshipper society. Reverse the tables. Revenge and all that.

And to top it off, someday you would make a power grab yourself (you being John Cavil) to be the #1 god.

That’s (a big part) of the story of Kobol and Cavil is out to repeat it - hopefully with better results (and on some “new” planet).

The series will end on Friday, with Cavil’s real plans being dashed, but we won’t learn that back story until “The Plan” airs.

Sounds like a good prediction. I think the way the story is going, they’re more intent on answering “What happened to Starbuck?” and “What is Hera’s significance?” than in explaining the whole mythology behind everything. I can live with that for now.

And wrap with the characters. Then for those fans, who are getting out the pitchforks due to plot gaps, give them the movie this summer, thereby earning more ad and DVD sale $$$. Seriously.

He’s now 2 behind. Wonder if there’s a problem or if he’s banking them for the dead time after the finale?

He doesn’t like the ending and won’t talk about it.

He’d never admit it.

They’re going out with a supernova![/QUOTE]

I don’t know… I mean if it was about the plot they would be going out like that, and I just don’t get that feel. Yeah there will be death, and effect shots, and explosions, but the bang I fear and feel will be false. They will call it a bang so we like sheep will think it is a bang.

Also to everyone who says you need to see part 2 to judge. Hmm… I can seem to remember that I liked ST:TNG Best of Both Worlds Part one some four months before seeing part two. Also, someone needs to tell Ron Moore that one of the things that is a part of a tv show, a movie, or a book is entertainment. Does anyone out there still feel entertained. If I wasn’t a fan of BSG since I was like 4 years old or something, I wouldn’t be still watching the show. At this point it has lost all its entertainment value for me.

I don’t know. He came out right away in the podcast for “Black Market” by saying it was an episode he didn’t like. That was one of the reasons I respected him early on. Of course, he’s got a lot more at stake for this one.

I’m impatient to hear his commentary for these episodes, though. Maybe he’s waiting 'cause he’s afraid he’ll accidentally leak spoilers for the ending while he talks (he did as much during the Kobol arc, when he mentioned that Elosha died).

I believe Moore is working on the plan and writing for Caprica. Ron is going to do the finale and "islanded in a stream of stars’ together as one podcast.

in fact its supposed to be done already, but it obviously cant come out till after day break 2.

That episode was concieved & presented as a 2 part episode arc. Daybreak Part 1 was concieved as a 3 hour continuous story. It was painfully obvious, to me anyway, it was not supposed to be presented as a seperate episode.

I have absolutely been entertained.

Actually, RDM has been very open and honest about episodes he didn’t like. He’d admit if he didn’t like the ending.

I thought maybe they were behind because of the gap in putting episodes online, but THAT’S now 10 days behind. What gives?

I have absolutely been entertained.

Me too. Also challenged, shocked, cast down and uplifted once again, all things that entertainment which transcends its genre and medium to become Art does.

Any rumors of a new project?

Well, after so much thinking, questioning and feeling - I’m exhausted.
I’m going to sit back and enjoy the last 2 hours next Friday.
I’ve said it many times - it’s been quite a ride.

Abso-frakkin-lutely awesome ride !!

“are you not enteratined?!?!! are you not enteratined?!?!! Is this not why you are here?!?!?!”

…couldn’t resist:D

I came to a realization while watching “Daybreak pt. 1”: I only have two things that I really, really want answered and I’m fine if everything else remains a mystery. I want to know whether they find a new home and who lives/dies in the Hera rescue mission. That’s it.

I don’t care what Starbuck is because the important thing is that she’s back (and I wish she’d stop complaining about it after “Someone to Watch Over Me” and Adama and Lee’s reassurances this episode). I don’t really care what the head!people are because there’s been enough hints dropped that people can debate it endlessly, which is always fun. And if there’s any other unsolved mysteries I’m missing, it’s my bad because these four things (new home, Hera rescue mission/presumable Opera House resolution, Starbuck, head!people) are the only ones I really care about and therefore remember.

I have to agree with Ron Moore on this one: it’s the characters that really keep me coming back to this show, since the two basic plots (human survivors of a genocide and displaced people looking for a new home) have been done many, many times before.

“…but not yet.”
All hail to Maximus.
