It’s funny when people reference films when citing facts. IMO, when it comes to film and facts PLOT is king. That being said, there should be some kinda disclaimer.

It just didn’t have to be there. The knights could have been from a later time. The test could have been different. There were any number of ways to stay within the historical framework they established. It’s just obvious that they did some research on this movie going in and didn’t bother with details.
It comes down to internal consistency to me.
No, ten-year-old me was already starting to wonder about death. That scene would have sent me to the encyclopedia or had me asking an adult about survivability.
