Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Wasn’t he in Gryffindor?

Is it a bad sign that I’m not sure?

Oh craap, do you mean to tell me that both of us are lacking in our Potter knowledge? This is NOT a good sign for house Hufferpoof

We are loyal, dependable and hardworking. There is nothing in there about knowledgeable…

All too easy, my nemesis. We Slytherins shall crush House H.R. Pufnstuf! :smiley:

The Hufflepuff mascot is the Badger. You are to C3PO as Hufflepuff’s are to Ewoks. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hufflepuff’s have parades, Slytherin have pool parties with Butterbeer.

Slytherin

Slytherin tend to be ambitious, cunning, and achievement-oriented. They also have highly developed senses of self-preservation. This means that Slytherins tend to hesitate before acting, so as to weigh all possible outcomes of a decision (and how these outcomes would personally impact them), unlike Gryffindors, whose chivalrous natures would likely lead them to react immediately and instinctively.

According to Albus Dumbledore, the qualities which Salazar valued in the students he chose included cleverness, resourcefulness, determination, and “a certain disregard for the rules.” Dumbledore noted that all of these were qualities possessed by Harry Potter, who was in Gryffindor.

Hufflepuffs

Students belonging to this house are known to be hard-working, friendly, loyal, and non-judgemental. It may be that due to their values, Hufflepuffs are not as competitive as the other houses, or are more modest about their accomplishments. Gryffindor and Slytherin share an enormous rivalry, and thus are extremely competitive with one another, whereas Ravenclaw is defined by the intelligence and academic accomplishments of its members. Hufflepuff appears to have the least rivalry with the other houses, except in Quidditch.

According to Minerva McGonagall, all four of the houses have produced exceptional witches and wizards in their time, but due to Helga Hufflepuff’s policy of accepting any student and its usually poor performance in the House Cup, Hufflepuff is often thought of as the place where students are sorted when they don’t have any of the qualities of the other three houses, which have more defined attributes. Perhaps as a consequence of the broad principles of acceptance upon which it is founded, Hufflepuff has been stereotyped as the house of the unexceptional.

Ravenclaw

Ravenclaw House prizes intelligence, knowledge, and wit in its members. Thus, many Ravenclaws tend to be academically motivated and talented students. However, they do not have a monopoly on cleverness. Hermione Granger, an extremely intelligent witch and the top student in her year, was sorted into Gryffindor, though she admitted that the Sorting Hat had seriously considered placing her in Ravenclaw. Slytherin house also values cunning for its members. Ravenclaw may also value beauty; their founder was famously beautiful. Maybe Talos isn’t just another pretty face? :stuck_out_tongue:

Gryffindor

Gryffindor emphasises the traits of courage as well as “daring, nerve and chivalry”, and thus its members are generally regarded as brave, though sometimes to the point of recklessness. Members of other houses, particularly Slytherin, sometimes feel that Gryffindors engage in “pointless heroics”. Another Slytherin, Severus Snape, considered many Gryffindors to be self-righteous and arrogant, with no regard for rules.

However, this may be taken with a grain of salt, as Gryffindors and Slytherins have shared a fierce house rivalry since their founders, Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin, respectively, had a severe falling out over Slytherin’s emphasis on blood purity.

Sorting Hat Descriptions

You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
if you’ve a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You’ll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.

By Gryffindor, the bravest were
Prized far beyond the rest;
For Ravenclaw, the cleverest
Would always be the best;
For Hufflepuff, hard workers were
Most worthy of admission;
And power-hungry Slytherin
Loved those of great ambition.
While still alive they did divide

For instance, Slytherin
Took only pure-blood wizards
Of great cunning just like him.
And only those of sharpest mind
Were taught by Ravenclaw
While the bravest and the boldest
Went to daring Gryffindor.
Good Hufflepuff, she took the rest
and taught them all she knew,

No house is better than the other, it is just a way of grouping similarly minded people together. If you have read the books you should be able to sort anyone on there personality. That is why I sorted the crew how I did. In reality we have all these characteristics in all of us, they are just concentrated differently in each of us. That is why there is nobody scoring 18-10-8-0.

P.S. Slytherin are the Keyser Söze’s of the Potter world.

Damn! We’re idiots? This does not bode well.

Well, I do take solace that you, my nemesis, are of an opposing House. I shall defend House HerfenScoop against your evil schemes!

Oh no!! Well, that confirms it. We HufferDoops are idiots. We’re doomed.

Just in case anyone here hasn’t seen this. :stuck_out_tongue:

There is always hope, even Scotty wore a red shirt, but look what he did with it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t worry, the Houses aren’t really good or bad per se. It just appears that more bad people get sorted into Slytherin… However, I’m sure [cough, cough] that you’re one of the exceptions…

Since we all got on the bandwagon…

It told me I was Gryffindor (brave, chivalrous, courageous), even though it was tied with Ravenclaw (Intelligent, witty, capable), which is what I usually get.

Your in-depth results are:

Gryffindor - 12
Ravenclaw - 12
Hufflepuff - 10
Slytherin - 8

Can I just found a new house and call it “Playboy Mansion”?

Well, excuse me, but let’s get real here, what Hogwarts essentially is is a high school. It’s not really some far-off place of Magic Academia, it’s a high school. Which entails high school girls…

I agree and I totally see it, also. GR walking around with his wand out entrancing the girls with its magnificence. BTW, you look great in a cape. It’s black, like Batman’s. You strunt down the halls of Hogwarts with cape flowing followed by a posse of admiring females. All of them, of course, swooning. Your common room would be called the ‘Playboy Mansion’.

How do you like the use of posse there? I’m quite proud of that.

HUFFERPOOF!?

I thought it was HR Puffnstuf…

That’s just too easy.

Sweet!! We haven’t seen that IYKWIM emoticon 'round here in ages. Welcome back little cylon with the sign!!

There are rock concerts:
http://www.evilwizardrock.com/

There are many bands like these-refer to your inter-tubes for more information on the bands for YOUR house.

Wow! Yeah, I used to watch that.
Careful though, if holywood here’s us talking about H.R. Puffenstuf, you know they’ll want to make a Big Screen blockbuster “H.R. Puffenstuf: Revenge of the Silly”.
