Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 7/3 @ 10 PM ET

Draco the Klepto. LOL

agreed.

so wait… who here hasn’t read the books?

Badger, unfortunately.

I haven’t. This is the first time watching the movie, too.

Better late than never.

See, books are dangerous!

I haven’t, but I don’t personally care about avoiding spoilers

FYI - The actress that plays Myrtle was 37 when this was made. That’s talent.

I loved her in Bridget Jones’ Diary. There are a lot of BJ actors/actresses in the HP movies. Only so many Brits to go around?

You really should read them. I have enjoyed them, although I have only read them through once.

And I am glad I didn’t know the ending of the last couple books before iI read them.

I don’t either, but let’s try to keep them to a minimum in frak parties, just for the benefit of those who might be be reading through later.

Agreed. Or at least use spoiler tags.

You’re probably right and I do like a lot of other young adult fantasy books in the same genre, I just have a strong prejudice against reading books that are so incredibly overhyped. It’s why I also haven’t bothered with Twilight.

I just asked out of curiosity, I’d never want to spoil someone for HP! When I finished book 7 (at 6 am after it was released… tra la la), I climbed into bed and just whispered to spouse, I finished! And then had to wait agonizing weeks for him to finish the book so I could talk!!

We’ve lost Hermione. I repeat, we’ve lost Hermione.

I was only a few years older than the HP demographic - my younger siblings were squarely in the demographic. And then after book 3, it was very popular with people my age, too.

Twilight… is a source of jokes among my friends. Mostly about the prose, but also about the sparkles.

You know what, Em? It’s worth the hype, though. These books were genuinely well-written, even moreso with each passing book. Put the “hype” prejudice aside an read these books.

Frankly, I won’t read Twilight, etc. I won’t say anything else about that here, but I can tell you why sometime if you are interested.

I too was very late to the books, I don’t think I started reading them until book 3 or 4 was out, but by the end I stood in line at midnight (only because I wasn’t going to be around on Saturday) and then read the last one in a weekend).

As for Twilight - that I waited until just about a month or so ago - and now am about a 3rd of the way through the last book. I have enjoyed that one for what it is - a teen romance. They are a quick read and good summer, I don’t have to think too much, reading. Is it the best written, no, and I am not reading it for the hype at all.

After that it is on to the Torchwood books I bought - I am sure that will become more of an interest to me once the new season airs.

IYKWIM? :stuck_out_tongue:

Only so many Brits to go around?

They’re fairly small islands.

Oh, that Lucius…he’s so deliciously evil.

Freakin’ Fudge is so impotent and useless…

“Why can’t we follow the butterflies?” lol

Yes they are fairly small islands (the size of Oregon if anyone is interested - I told you lots of useless information), but oh the pretty boys they have produced…and the accents, swoon.

I realized that a majority of my current favorite actors are British
