Roslin as Moses and Adama as Joshua then?
I agree that NC is the classic detour in a journey myth. Literarily I see it as similar to the Calypso’s island that Odysseus gets trapped on with a mix of the Sirens thrown in.
It’s funny how the art actually imitates experience of watching it. During the original run, the start of the NC story line at the end of season 2 seemed like such a diversion that unsettled many viewers. But now in retrospect it really becomes a necessary part of the journey, that one can’t imagine the saga without it.
I always love the part when the Galactia is falling and jumps while in the atmosphere. Good stuff. I think the Chief showed true leadership skills to.
I totally loved that part…all the flaming vipers coming out…gave me goosebumps 
It’s funny how of all the characters on the show, it seems like Lee is the only one, or at least the first one to give up. He resigned himself to his fate when he released the hole in his flight suit and thought he was going to die while drifting in space after the blackbird blew up, he was the one with the most dramatic change during the time the fleet was above New Caprica, giving up his fitness and becoming fat Lee and when he came back from Galactica after meeting with his father, Dee could tell just from his look that he gave up on the idea of ever seeing his father again. Then at the end, Lee sincerely looked as if he was going to stay to go down with his ship, until Dee brought him back and called for him.
I think this is one of the most spectacular episodes of the ENTIRE series, even without the amazing special fx of the Galactica plummeting from the sky while the vipers launched through the flaming bay tubes, if just for the final scenes between Sol and Ellen Tigh. They had one of, if not the most complex relationships on the show and when that relationship ended in this episode, you could tell it was probably one of the biggest moments in the series. And yes, Tigh can amazingly show more emotion with just one eye than he could before he got tighclopsed.
I love how in this episode Baltar’s SINCERELY begging Gaeta to shoot him, Gaeta then says Baltar can make things right with his one chance to stop Dianna from setting off the nuke. Then we see by the end of Season 3, after Gaeta failed to kill him a second time, with a pen, Baltar yells butterfingers at him, the two have a complex relationship that makes me laugh.
Not only does Starbuck knife Leoben in the end, she twists the knife for added gore and pain! He may have gotten his I love you and kiss while holding her in his arms, but he paid for it yet again, I bet by now he gets something a bit stronger than a headache every time he resurrects.
Oh, some crack team of soldiers Anders picked to keep Maya and Hera alive, they did a bang up job with that mission. Then we see Hera found by Baltar and his cylon cadre while Roslyn takes back her post upon Colonial One, where she belongs. I love how everything around Roslyn is chaos and she calmly states (after taking out her journal) that she’s “ready to go.”
It’s amazing how in the moment for the fleet, they’re celebrating the ground the Adamas are walking on (literally picking the Admiral up and carrying him in joy) but the scene is completely stolen, first by Tigh, who we know has had to make the biggest sacrifice of all of them (if he hadn’t killed Ellen, the secret tribunal would have strung her up and airlocked her for her trouble) and then with the look by Starbuck, knowing she just went through the biggest mind-frak, after that, Adama turns and watches Tigh’s slow walk out of the hanger and seems to realize that if he could, he would rather just be with his long lost friend who he can tell has been through a much worse ordeal than he did during the whole New Caprica saga.
We then get a calm note to end on, with Bill, after the whole New Caprica ordeal behind him, shaving off his signature Edward James Almos mustache and going back to the clean shaven Adama we all recognize.
