Oh yeah, you’re absolutely right. And this forum and the podcast would work wonder against the clichéing that often haunts SciFi fans, you know, we’re oftentimes stereotyped as being so aloof and detached from earthly matters that we don’t care about anything but SciFi (and that’s the good cliché) or (and that’s the bad cliché) people will think that SciFi geeks are childish, need to grow up, etc.
At least I have frequently come across opinions like these in other people.
…stlll chipping away at #85. Random notes:
The discussion of RDM’s better work vs. his not-so-better work reminded me of classic literature-talk, like desingating works like “This Side of Paradise” as “minor Fitzgerald.” Like, there’s “major Moore” and “minor Moore.”
And I’m resisting the temptation to pick up the ball of Galactica-Related Porn Titles and run with it.
Most awesome explanation, yet! Yoooo are as goooooods!
Sheer awesomeness. The whole resurrection ship thingy was feeling a bit like one of those THIS IS A PLOT DEVICE things, which couldn’t be beaten into making any sense. This makes great sense of it though, and addresses the fact that it looks to me like the ‘interesting’ de-gooings aren’t happening on the resurrection ship, and also that one scene when d’anna gets boxed which IS on the resurrection ship.
yay for you
But that was Sharon(Boomer) not Sharon(Athena) wasn’t it? and Sharon(Athena) claimed (IIRC) that she didn’t have that programming.
Now I know its not conclusive, as a whole lotta people don’t realise their ‘company’ PCs are doing keystroke monitoring or whatnot, but I’m in the camp where I’m inclined to believe Sharon(Athena) doesn’t have sleeper cell programming… mainly for the reason that it’d be a bit too pat and ‘easy’ for the writers to do, and if it were the case I’ll probably feel a bit let down
