Thank you!
Killer design on the card- my friends will be so jealous until I print one out for them!
PS: Scrooged, has gotta be one of my favorites. Oh, and I never tire of the chick flick While You Were Sleeping. Still hits me where I live.
Thank you!

Bkittyā¦Iāll back you up on Scrooged. Hysterically funny holiday movie!
bkitty, great avatar, lol!
Man, Iām still just pleased as pie that we donāt run out of stuff to talk about during this looooong hiatus. You all make the forum a great place to be and give us a lot of inspiration! Onward, ho! (Wait, can I say that?)
I love Christmas movies & specials. Iām surprised no oneās mentioned the classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas (not the Jim Carrey version). Another I canāt manage without is The Nightmare Before Christmas, and then I OD on about half a dozen versions of A Christmas Carol from the muppets to George C Scott, Patrick Stewart, Bill Murray, Blackadder, and Mr Magoo. Then after all the sweet stuff, thereās Denis Leary in The Ref. I could go on, but I think Iāve embarrassed myself sufficiently for one post.
I was also surprised no one mentioned the Grinch (the original cartoon). Everytime the Grinch and his dog take the ride in the sled I have to laugh out loud. Iāll throw in Merry Christmas Charlie Brown. I use it to showcase jazz music for the 2nd and 3rd graders I have for general music, but really its just an excuse to watch it about seven times before christmas vacation. Happy new year to all!
First of all Campbell Lane, aka Grandpa Goo, voice of the narrator on Gundam Wing, thatās all that need be said to make him the coolest voice in all of dork-dom.
This year I was forced to watch Home Alone, though managed 2 full viewing of a Christmas Story, spread over like 6 total viewings. Also got to see some of The Wire and play Halo 3 for the first time, I died a lot. But if I had my way I would have the perfect christmas special viewing party. And it would go a little something like this.
The Simpsons āSimpsons roasting on an open fireā
A Christmas Story
Garfield Christmas special
Robot Chicken christmas specials
Christmas Vacation
Futurama X-mas Story
Family Guy Merry Freakin Christmas
Aqua Teen Hunger Force The Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past from the Future
The Boondocks A Huey Freeman Christmas
Black Christmas, the 1974 version Silient Night, Evil Night to some.
Silent Night, Bloody Night, also 1974.
and close with
The Venture Brothers A Very Venture Christmas
You might not be able to open presents, cook meals, or see family; but who wants to to that stuff on Christmas, jeez.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Chuck, Audra, Sean, and the Forum. Hereās to another year of great sci-fi banter, new BSG, and finding Earth.
Planting the seed early: For next yearās Xmas podcast, maybe take some calls about assorted Christmas specials, recipes, toys, etc.? And maybe post a week early, so weād have it to listen to during any holiday commuting? As a listener, Iād totally understand if you took a week off for the holidays, too.
Cheers
On that note, I wonder what a Galactica Christmas special would be like?
Shipād probably get blown up as soon as they turned on the tree lights or something, knowing Ron Mooreās penchant for ruining the āhappy episodesā (c.f. āAct of Contritionā).
By the way, I donāt think anyoneās mentioned this, but Peter Weller isnāt just doing narration for the History Channel, he actually has a degree in history and, according to IMDB, is working towards his PhD (and teaches a few classes) in Roman and Renaissance history at Syracuse University (just down the road from me! Holy frak!).
Iām not sure weāve mentioned it in the 'cast, but itās come up more than once at our Dallas-area meetups. What the GWC crew wants from you for the New Year (besides hopefully meeting you in person at a natāl meetup soon): an autographed 8x10 of Mr. Weller signed, āTo Audra, Sean, and Chuck ā Donāt be mean!ā
Kidding.
The folks on the Galactica probably wouldnāt celebrate Christmas per se, but what would they celebrate? Maybe Festivus? Or Greek or Roman holidays? Saturnalia? Bacchanalia? Thereās a scary thoughtā¦
Replace āa scary thoughtā with ābreak timeā and Iām with you.
Galactica crashing into the ISS making a huge low earth orbit fireball? A raptor crashing in Jervis Bay after a bad jump resulting in Racetrack and Athena having a great dinner aboard the Australian ship that rescued them with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd as host? Racetrack and Hotdog having dinner with Canadian Forces in the vicinity the North Pole after a bad landing that set NORAD off?
Each of those three possibilities only works if the Earth found by Galactica is todayās, though.
I remembered. Chuckās Car & Driver story about the blind drivers with sighted navigators reminded me of the movie āIf You Could See What I Hearā that starred Marc Singer (of āVā and āBeastmasterā fame). The movie is a dramatization of the life of Tom Sullivan, a blind singer who had some fame in the 70s (appeared on MAS*H). Anyhoo, an early scene has him driving his friends around because he was the only sober one. Wackiness ensued.
LOL! I totally loved that movie! I thought of that, too! I am definitely in the right group.
<huge grin>:D
Hey I worked at a KB when I was in college and found out how nice people can get when I saw 2 pregnant women almost fist fighting over a tickle me Elmoā¦ not a nice sceneā¦
But when I worked there Beast Wars transformers was on tv so of course now I have a bunch of those toys! I just couldnāt resitā¦ yes a grown man can own a toy and still be manly J
Iām with ya, sister!
