GWC Podcast #182: The Guild, Part II

One quick question : Was that Sarah Lancaster (Chuck, Saved by the Bell) at the end of episode 208?

Nevermind, I just read the end-credits for episode 209 - it’s Michelle Boyd. she IS hot ~_~

And I would like to thank Chuck, Sean & Audra - it’s 3:37 am and i’m supposed to be at my desk for work at 8:30 … ;p

I owe you guys so much for introducing me to The Guild. As a WoW player on and off for the past, like… four years, I think? it hits me where I live. I showed my husband s1 (s2 is waiting until tomorrow–I’m GMing a Star Wars game tonight, woot) and we had a great time pointing out which character fits who from our old guild. I think we had at least three Vorks, two Zaboos, at least one Clara, at least one Tink, more Bladezz than I can count (and none attractive enough for modeling)… Yep, pretty dysfunctional guild.

Also, YAY STARGATE NEXT WEEK!

Im still not sure If my groan was internalized or if I actually vocalized it. I hope I didnt do it out loud, I get enough strange stares while I’m at work. shakes fist Damn youz!

Great cast otherwise, with some great interviews! I really hope that after The Guild the cast gets a lot more opportunities in Hollywood; I definitely want to see more of all these folks.

Yeah. I hope the cast members get some real opportunities as a result of “The Guild.” On talent alone they deserve it. Every one of them.

Spouse and I really enjoyed this podcast… which we listened to while playing WoW, hehe. Great job!

Agreed, if it weren’t going to be released generally tomorrow I’d suggest a change, but we can all see it tomorrow.

Agreed. Discussing the fact that Vork is in fact the father of Bladezz was probably best left discovered in one’s personal viewing. Tink’s reveal that she spends her evenings fighting crime was sweet tho. Who would of thot Codex is thinking about quitting WoW and starting papercraft? And Zaboo? An undercover FBI agent? I didn’t see that coming!

You’re mean. d:

Felicia Day and Veronica Belmont? Awesome!

If only you had talked about sci-fi and other cool stuff with them :frowning:

You don’t consider The Guild, kicking down the New Media door, and WoW cool stuff? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d have loved to talk to every single one of our guests for hours. They’re all such incredibly talented and interesting people, they clearly have a lot more to say on other subjects, too. But we did try to be respectful and keep our interviews to a length convenient for them as opposed to us – who’d just keep on chatting until they threw us out.

Just not a big fan of all the MMO talk(it’s usually that a small portion of people understand what you’re talking about and the majority tunes it out, because it makes no sense if you’re not familiar with it). The new media thing has happened for a while now with podcasts(hey!), Revision3 etc.

You should have at least squeezed a BSG question somewhere in the interviews.

Really good podcast, I especially liked the analogy about musical instruments. I do think that in the future we will look back at our time and see exactly the same thing.

hahahaha! I got a shout out for goading Sean! :stuck_out_tongue:

Awesome podcast, those were some fantastic interviews. I’ll probably have to listen to it again just to make sure I don’t miss anything.

Not to steer this thread too far off course, but what’s the learning curve like in CoH, Masked Revenger? While I have no intention of trying WoW again, I’ve kicked around trying CoH.

I never really thought about it… I’d say it’s about on par with WoW. The basic game is pretty easy to pick up, and the tutorial is pretty through on how to use your powers and how to level up. Overall, I’d say it’s a pretty smooth learning curve.

When I think that I almost skipped these podcasts beccause I thought they were going to be about a particular MMO. I am so glad I checked in.

The creative minds behind the Guild and LON have jumped up to near the top of my watch list for new content.

Other than these two (and Dr. Horrible of course) - anybody have suggestions for other webisody type entertainment?

Shodan, I can empathize with you. I am not an MMO player at all but what I enjoy about the podcast is learning about subjects I am not familiar with. It is not to say that after the Guild podcast I am now a convert and will rush out to go play. I consider myself now an even more informed consumer and taken part in a discussion that has increased my appreciation for the subject matter.

As for a BSG that ship has sailed. The central thesis of the podcast is no longer tied to BSG, it is tied to exploring new content and sharing the knowledge with each other. For example with the upcoming Stargate arc I am not a big fan, but it doesn’t mean I won’t listen. I welcome the opportunity to learn more about something and then decide once again whether or not it is something I want to continue.

And Moe swings in with exhibit A of the new model and why it works. Thanks man!

[ETA–in reply to Moe’s question about other web series]

Red vs. Blue, of course. And the far shorter P.A.N.I.C.S. by the same group.

Chad Vader and Thor’s Kitchen from My Damn Channel.

Yeah but see. She should be happy with me, obviously. =D

Its Ok, She just hasn’t met you yet. When she does it will all work out.

Awesome podcast!! I loved all the guest interviews. And when Felicia Day came on and nearly drove off the road in glee. She really is incredible. I think my crush on her has now gone thermonuclear.
