I would too, mainly because I am nosy & wouldn’t be going through theirs!
I just finished the free story on Audible that Michael Hogan narrated and I had to report on it: it does feel like Saul Tigh telling an apocalyptic bedtime story! He even says “craaaap,” complete with drawn-out vowel (not quite as drawn-out as Chuseaundra’s interpretation, but still).
I was thinking about the part where Marty says to doc “what about Jennifer, we can’t just leave her here.” they leave her behind on the assuming that she’s be fine, and she’s just in on in the right timeline after they fix the past. I find it’s hard to wrap my brain around that one. I guess since they change the past in 1955 it changes everyone including her in 1985? Does anyone have a better way of putting it?

Your right about it feeling wierd, but I’ve rented beach house and cabins before, I guess I just thought it would be more of the same. I don’t think I’d leave out my ATM cards or anything.
Have you seen “Back to the Future: The Animated Series” ?

I think the fact that Chuck was able to bring out so many textures in the Back to the Future trilogy is testament to fine scriptwriting that we haven’t really seen in years. Notwithstanding the current onslaught of comic-book crossovers to the big screen (hey, I’m not complaining).
PS I feel the need to re-iterate myself, cos it didn’t come out right the first time :
Michaela, you have a sweet voice; coupled with a sexy Aussie accent, you set the bar very high for people with sweet voices in sexy accents. I meant to say that the ONLY person I could think of who could outdo you is Andrea Corr in her Irish accent.
Hope that clears the air :o
Tks Tom… actually I did it without thinking (much the same as I do everything else) but generally I try not to push too many impressions on people. It always brings back the days in when I was a wee young’n and would ham it up - got me in trouble more times than not.
Esp. when you start mocking adults within earshot… and you’re good at it.
Back in MY day we didn’t have no fancy podcasts and forums…we went outside and talked…in the snow…uphilll…and we LIKED it like that
Once agaion…Sean is rockin hizzie fo shizzie
…and now, I have to go catch a train
Yeah. I remember watching it every Saturday morning. I actually saw the cartoon show before I saw the movies. (I was just a wee lass back then) ^^
I’d been wondering if there really was such a thing, if it was just a tidbit of misinformation bouncing around in my mind.
Here’s a quote from the Wiki summary of episode 2:
“Without consulting the family while leaving Marty and Jennifer alone, Doc takes Clara and the boys back to medieval times to escape the technology that he feels his family has become so reliant upon. Once there, Clara is kidnapped by the evil Lord Biffingham and Doc is thrown into the dungeon…”
Lord Biffingham!
(And, yes, the actors reprise their voices)
Hey CylonMatrix
No problems at all. I only just realised you were talking about the lead singer of the Corrs, she is so awesome. I can be a little dense.
I love contributing to the show and you guys all rock!
Right back at ya, Shelia!!
You make me laugh. You’ve got an Australian phrasebook somewhere, haven’t you!
Google is my cobber.
I remember when I was a kid that I would always ask my mom when she thought they would make the next BTTF movie. It seemed like it took an eternity to for them to make it. It is amazing how differently we experience time at different points in our life. I guess before age 10 a 4 yr wait is about half a lifetime. As a adult it is just the term of a loan.
Before the re watch I had scene the BTTF movies so many times I didn’t think there was anything new to talk about. They did such a great job making these movies fun, easy and for the family that I thought we couldn’t get much more than a good time. Boy was I wrong! As always when something is put under the GWC microscope it brings a fresh, alternate perspective to something very familiar.
I’m still catching up on the podcasts, but OMG!
I love Garfield Hallowe’en!! My parents bought me this punkass bootleg tape of it in Thailand, of all places, way back when people still watched videotapes, many, many, many years ago. I would watch it once every week or so, until the tape disintegrated. So how mighty surprised for me to hear about it here on this podcast. I can’t believe it - I didn’t think anyone actually watched it. The peg legs!!
OK, I’ll pipe down now.
Thanks to the caller who brought up the PG porn site.
Anyway. Great end to the BTTF arc, which was fantastic and brought back a lot of sweet memories.
Speaking of old phones, my parents had one of those rotary phones that they rented from the phone company until the late 90s. And yes my Mom loved to slam it on people.
Best depiction of punks in an 80s sci-fi flick is Repo Man. Emilio Estevez plays a hardcore kid, but he didn’t have any punk cred. However, the backing cast of his characters’ friends include the Circle Jerks’ Zander Schloss.
Tangent: As far as words, misuse of words, misused words, and neologisms of questionable origins goes, this episode of This American Life, #293: A Little Bite of Knowledge, has a hilarious segment on the subject.
A few people talk about the not-uncommon phenomenon of going through life thinking that the word “misled” is actually pronounced “misseled,” and it’s a verb-based adjective. “Man, that guy misled me.” Also included is “X-ING” signs as “zing, noun, a place where you’d better hurry along, lest you be squashed, whether you’re a pedestrian or duck.”

Also has a funny bit that discusses a phenomenon entitled “Modern Jackass” that should be in everyone’s vocabulary.
We had one too. Mum kept it in her bedroom, maybe she liked hanging up on people, I don’t know. She might even still have it.
Yeah, my folks have an old Princess rotary phone in the bedroom at their place, which has stayed there for decades because (a) it doesn’t have a disconnectable jack you can just unplug, and (b) it’s more likely to work during power outages.
There’s something very nostalgic about the classic bell ringer, too…same reason why I lookfor those clip files to use as ringtones on the mobile. =)
