GWC Podcast #120

DeLorean, time travel that means Chuck can get rich in the future and go back in time to get an DeLorean. That sounds about right.

The Beauty and the Beast was a great series. Linda H. was much more girly and the show was a romantic, cop, law, drama. The Beast saves Linda’s character from a beating and she helps the underground group as needed. She is tough but not as in Terminator.

The Breakfast Club was filmed in my high school in Illinois.

I live 15 minutes from the University of Central Florida. Chuck we were neighbors.

This is an ongoing saga as I listen to the podcast.

I was listening to the first 5 minutes of the show, and I’ve just got to recommend this link to y’all guys here.

The yummylicious actress playing the weenerlicious gurl is actually Australian dang it!

With regard to the “everything is canon” suggestion around 20 minutes in:

Doctor Who has a name for this: Wibbly-Wobbly-Timey-Wimey :stuck_out_tongue:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vY_Ry8J_jdw - not a spoiler, just one of the best retcon arguments ever (series 3/29).

I have strong suspicions that some GWCers are actually humble BSG casts.

I suspect either Leah or Lady D (because of her voice) could be actually Leah Cairns~!

Hey you know what this is? Me, shamelessly making a-stab-in-the-dark~!

Ladies, care to comment? Are one of you actually Leah Cairns? (ooo, I just hope the REAL Leah Cairns calls in for the next podcast~! Yeah, I’m soo shamelessly baiting her to call in again) :D:eek:

I thought this was the Sarah Connor Chronicles, not the preview to Back to the Future?

I thought this preview was interesting…I can’t get into the SCC…just not doing it for me.

Why are you guys hating on Biodome? It is good is have some mindless fun every once and a while, you also learn about science and how to balance the homos within the system buuuhhhhuuudddddyyy. On top of that you got Kylie Minogue eating a carrot which is hot and also a little something for the accent lovers, you know who you are. Tenacious D also makes a appearance.

Here is a synopsis for all those who feel like they missed out.

A Female Terminator (that gets named Cameron) is sent back to protect John while at the same time Skynet sends back a Terminator (named Cromartie) to kill him (sound familiar?). Since John needs to stay alive they have to keep running from it. That’s it.
It would be hard for them to do a lot more having not watched it all and who knows how many GWCers have watched it all.

I do agree about Back to the Future not needing more attention than the next 3 weeks but it is better than The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Is it possible that the average viewing of BTTF movies for GWCers is less than 20. I mean that we could do a frak party without even playing the movie so I don’t expect much new info or incite into the Trilogy, but I could listen to the Trinity ramble on forever about anything so it is all good. IMO a lot of the best material, jokes and suggestions come from them going off topic. As long as they don’t start on the subjects of Country Music or Sports we are all good.

I loved the podcast - it felt like I was listening to a thread on the boards

And as someone who hasn’t seen SCC nor did I manage to get hold of copies of the Terminator series… well… I don’t know what I missed.

Keep up the digressions and tangents, Chuseandra! They’re most fun.

allow me to apply a dramatica theory take on the SCC.

What Uchika desrcibed above is the objective throughline.
Sarah & John on the run from Skynet, even before it’s actually created, whilst being protected by a re-programmed Terminator model known as Cameron and hooking up with John’s uncle on the way.
The subjective story is those “missing years” of Sarah & John’s life, post-Terminator 2 and leading up to Judgement Day (whether Terminator 3 is part of this canon is debatable for most fans, but T3 is canon to me.) The SCC also answers questions about smaller story arcs and threads that haven’t been answered in the movies, like Sarah’s leukemia, John’s growth from a whiny teenager to the man he was destined to be, the thing about Sarah’s psychiatrist (who appeared in all Terminator movies so far), the cyclic nature of time (sic); the fact that they merely delayed Judgement day shows that timelines are malleable, but general truths like Judgement Day are unavoidable, the story points about free-will vs pre-destination, general discussions about AI (as common discussions as they are in sci-fi) and how man’s creations always end up freaks-of-nature.

Yea, so if you’ve watched the Terminator movies and asked, "why?" at some of the story points, this series attempts to answer those questions.

That’s right! Good call. I always thought that actor was wasted when they took him off the show (his talent, not drunkenness).

Thanks- and I hope no one’s burned out on BTTF yet. Sometimes we get excited about an upcoming topic and get on it early. Anyway, we loved the pilot of SCC and are excited about watching the rest!!

I am really just poking fun at the fact that, more so than any other show I have scene, how little room there is for variety in this show. They have done a pretty good job so far but I am already feeling the repetitiveness of the fact that if they change that basic plot it will no longer be Terminator. It will be interesting to see how they deal with this. Prison Break has fallen into the same sort of trap but they have done lots better this year. I agree with what you say CylonMatrix but I do have a question for you. Why did they decide to call it The Sarah Connor Chronicles and then go ahead and make her the least interesting character in the TV series? IMO

Let’s not forget the fact that the new summernator is obscenely hot and has started surpass it’s own programming and show emotions. And she has nice boobs. I like boobs. I think I will start doing a boob report much the same way that Audra does a hair report.

I am with you Tigh. I am sick to death of how these Hollywood people get away with objectifying us men as packages of meat in these Terminator movies. I also think the hair report has been replaced because I can’t remember being able to count the hair swinging back and forth.

If Skynet was really so smart why did they even make male cyborgs to begin with? If they were built to infiltrate and terminate then why didn’t they build female models right from the beginning? Come to think about it, why didn’t they build children terminators? Both would be much better infiltrators than tall, bodybuilding males. Even a child cyborg would be more than a match physically for any human.

Just so we can look forward to next week which boob will you interview first, Bush or McCain?

I am going to take a break from the podcast during the Back to the future ARC. I just can’t stand those stupid movies.

Dude, you’re missing out…

They were the Matrix movies of the 80s!!!

I’m looking forward to a discussion of the BttF. It was just named the 10th best sci-fi film by the AFI. Never saw II, but wasn’t very impressed with III when I saw it in the theater. Could be due to the fact that I hadn’t seen II. What’s people’s opinion on how II and III hold up to I? I could be convinced to reconsider and try to rewatch.

I is better than II, but not by a huge margin. III is the weakest, but it’s still a fun movie.

I really like the innovative idea in II whereby the events of BttF I are happening in the background. I don’t remember that ever being done before.
