GWC 1st Annual Nat'l Meetup: March 20-22, 2009 (Frisco, TX)

Love Field was really easy to get to from the hotel. I should have asked around and handed off my directions though…my bad!

I am sad to report that my Starbuck tattoo is all but faded away, just like her. I refused to help it along and enjoyed its shadow all week. Now i no longer feel like a bad ass, except when I view the shot of beef and me doing a shot.

Does anyone have the version of our Last Supper picture with me as Baltar and DawnAZ as Head Six?

i think that i have a few of those up on my flickr pool???

yup, just checkd and there r a couple copies… so STEAL em

I was totally with you in spirit. And I called on the day of the finale!

Start making plans now to come next year GR!

I’m not 16 anymore, but I will definitely come sooner than that.

IYKWIM…

Don’t worry, we all know you’re badass even without the 'buck tattoo!

If anyone is interested, I have a couple of blog posts up about the meetup.

Day 1 is here.

Day 2 is here.

Day 3 was emotionally the hardest for me, so it may take a while for me to get it all down. I’ll let you know when I do.

That was awesome, Rachel. It’s been so weird coming home this week and trying to explain to people what I did last weekend. I’ve been so busy this week that my memories of the meetup are quickly beginning to feel unreal, so it was good to relive them through your eyes. Many thanks.

I think a moment of silence for the passing of the tattoo is in order. Like Starbuck, you won’t be forgotten! Hurrah for photos on the flickr pool…

Some friends asked me for highlights of the weekend (vainly hoping for the short version, I suppose) and I found myself giving them a rundown of the entire weekend - the whole time was a highlight, which is pretty cool. Events don’t always live up to what you hope of them, but this did because of the people. Which makes me smile, even in the rain.

Hey gang. You don’t know me much
(I watch the episode late and listen to the podcast later, so I don’t participate in the discussions much)
but I’ve been a loyal listener since episode 8.
You guys (and gal) rock!
You have always put on an incredibly professional and entertaining podcast
and have increased my enjoyment of BSG immensely.
Even though the show is ending I look forward to hearing from all of you on whatever topics you visit in the future.
So, thank you for your insights and thoughts on the show every week, and thanks for watching BSG with me.
Dennis (aka tanstaafl)

You guys are the cream in my algae coffee.

From All of Us-
Here and Far…
Thank You.

Furpey! You’re so right. Just sitting in the Irish Rover, surrounded by Alpacas, just felt so comfortable and right. You felt like you could walk up to anyone and instantly strike up a rapport. It was just like the forum, in a way: You knew that you weren’t going to be sniped, except perhaps in fun, and that everyone was a friend you could trust, even if you hadn’t yet spoken more than a few words. A very rare situation, and one that I can’t wait to repeat!!

The above was the text included on the card accompanying the gifts presented to the crew before the LiveCast.

Thanks to all who sent a pithy statement I could fit on the card! lol!

I know There must have been people who I missed in the massive DM and Tweet campaign!

Please take this extra opportunity to say how you feel, and take your part in the presentation of the Crew Gifts pictured above!

Thanks Bkitty!

It’s amazing to have the chance to give props since I wasn’t able to be there in person. I plan to be at the next meetup!

Much love

SS

And the adventure that was the GWC Meetup continues…I got an invoice today for toll fees from North Texas Tollway Authority. I could have saved $1.45 with a toll tag…for a state I don’t live in…Woot!

Great write up on your experience over the weekend. Looking forward to reading Day 3.

My friends react with an “m-kay, these people were all into BSG and computers?” and then they change the subject…quickly. You’re so right it was a fantastic time…all due to the people who attended.

I’m trying to smile still…really…even with rain, sleet and snow on the way. See! My jaw hurts now.

it was great to finally meet all of you and be around some genuinely nice peeps (and i don’t meant the easter kind, althought those arte good too.) I find myself sitting in the dark with a nice stiff drink watching The Day Breaks waiting for someone to kick in my door and for my to stand up and say “I knew it was going to end like this” (watchmen reference for those of u who r not familiar) BTW i win the fight!

Anyhoo great times and thanks for everything “Sean” Chuck and Audra “What’s going on?” and of course Konrad Halo 3 god amongst men!
