I love this quid pro quo scene. If this was an old man and a young woman, Whale would seem so much worse than a dirty old man. As it is, it comes off humorous without being wretchedly lascivious. At least, IMO.

When I first saw it I expected it to be really lame. I was blown away how deep and disturbing. Bride of Frankenstein was even better.

I just didn’t recognize it by that name, since it’s been generic for about 60 years.
I love seeing the actors off camera. They are so accomplished and then they turn on the camp.
