Sadly, I need to get some sleep.
Next week, same Gargoyle-time, same Gargoyle-channel?

Yep!
lb…
Count me in! Thanks for setting this up!
Not a problem. I figure we can make this a weekly thing, if this time works for everyone.
Convenient after MLP.
Works for me. 3 episodes a week sounds fair.
I kinda want to start blogging about the show, too. Blogs weren’t around when it was on, so it kinda got cheated.
Go for it. Put it on GWC even.
I may just have to do that, FC!
Sweet! I’ll be there.
Anyone noticed the “we-brought-over-a-whole-Scottish-castle-brick-by-brick” bit was also done in Smallville?

No, but both owners (Xanatos and Luthers) have quite a bit in common.
is our next frak party on Thursday?
Yes. I figure we’ll do them weekly.
Tonight’s episodes should be:
Awakening (Part 4) - orig. aired 10/27/94
Awakening (Part 5) - orig. aired 10/28/94 (my 11th b-day)
The Thrill of the Hunt - orig. aired 11/4/94
The first two episodes conclude the origin arc, and the third episode introduces The Pack and features some great character development for my favorite gargoyle, Lexington.
I adjusted the YouTube playlist link to begin at the 4th episode, FYI.

I just recently stumbled across something I’d never heard before: Lexington was gay.
From Interview: Greg Weisman Talks ‘Gargoyles’:
[ul]
[li]CMIX: You confirmed during a convention a few years ago that Lexington was gay. When was that decided?
[/li]> [li]GW: We didn’t plan it from the beginning. We didn’t say, “Okay, here’s the big heavy-set character and here’s the gay character.” Over time, we learned more about the characters. And towards the end, it occurred to us that Lexington was gay but that he didn’t know it.
[/li]> [li]CMIX: And did you inform actor Thom Adcox [who voiced Lexington] of that?
[/li]> [li]GW: No, because there was nothing we felt he needed to change and it was towards the end. I remember it was actually at the Gathering of the Gargoyles in New York that a fan flat-out asked if Lexington was gay and I said, “Yes,” and Thom cried out, “I knew it!”
[/li]> [/ul]
Yes, I remember when that news, er, came out. It would have been interesting to see that aspect of the character come to light on the show, if Disney would have even allowed it. I’m sad we never got to see that on screen, but even the relationship between Goliath and Elisa was never fully realized. I can’t think of any direct hints towards Lex’s orientation in the show, other than his idol-worship of the Pack. He does bond with Alexander Xanatos towards the end of the series, but Alex was still a baby.
Still, it’s an interesting anecdote. I have a great deal of respect for Weisman. He seemed to me to have a lot of integrity. I feel that if Gargoyles had stayed on the air and he had stayed on as showrunner, Weisman would have pushed Disney to tell that story, when the time came.
Who knows, maybe he could have hooked up with a younger Professor Dumbledore in some sort of Time-Turner/Phoenix Gate time-traveling tryst.
Personally, I related to Lex because he was the geeky gargoyle, and the “weaker” one. He idolized the Pack the way I looked up to Star Trek and Star Wars, etc., and as we’ll see in tonight’s episode, heroes aren’t always everything they’re cracked up to be.
And we start off with Maza kicking butt.
Ready to go.
She better get out from under his arm.
