I have to admit, I was slightly disappointed to see how much it’s already differing from the novel. I knew that it was going to be following a different set of characters, but this whole addition of the potential conspiracy with…
militants in special ops gear & people who weren’t affected by the flashforward
…have me thinking that this is going to be a completely Hollywood-ized story only loosely inspired by the source material. Even so, I suppose it still has the potential to stand solid as its own story.
Good News everybody!! It appears that FlashForward had incredibly good ratings on opening night!! Lets hope the drop off to next week isn’t bad. I don’t see any reason it should be
Robert J. Sawyer didn’t even get a mention in the titles. Heck, the guy who wrote the book Homicide: Life on the Street was based on was in the titles every episode even though the series was only 10% (if that) based on his book.
I expected it to be very different from the novel, and of course it was. The novel couldn’t really sustain a whole series.
That Ralph Fiennes does a good American accent, no?
Oh yeah, and something tells me the Higgs Boson will have nothing to do with the Flash Forward in this version (given that guy who didn’t black out). That was my favourite element of the book, but then I’m a science geek.
its obvious what caused it all…
Seth macfarlane tried to destroy the world, it started with peanut butter jelly time; and now he’s stepped up his game.
On the bright side, Sawyer is writing a episode for the show
Watch this show if you havent, its good.
D Gibbons is a bad man.

Looks like Flash Forward got picked up for a full season!

Awesome-Opossum!!
Wow, I’m surprised.
I think it’s still a really great premise, and the cast (other than Fiennes, who I didn’t mind before, but I really don’t like on this show) is stellar, but I’m not particularly liking this ‘solve the mystery’ structure the show seems to be taking to instead of focusing on how ordinary people (not just this tiny tag team of agents) would react in the aftermath. I’d imagine some people would use it for evil (like lotto/gambling/etc), or use it to change their destinies (which I’m a little annoyed with, because every character is so resigned to their ‘fate’, and if I were Cho, I’d probably change bits and pieces about anything just to make sure I don’t die), or use it for power (political/religious/etc), etc. I’d imagine the every conspiracy theorist (professional or otherwise) would have a million theories on it as well, and I wish we could see that instead of say, seeing Penny’s stupid flashback for the millionth time.
I’m glad it got a full season, because I’m still watching, but I hope the writers can write some better dialogue and show us more about the characters soon, because I’m not sure I particularly care about any of them right now.
Wow, sorry about ranting. I think there are good things about the show - like the premise, or the actors and the directors - but I think there are lots to improve on as well, and I hope they can make this season worth our while.
No Flash Forward fraks? The karaoke was hilarious.
I like the mystery aspect, but I hope they wrap up the show in one season. While I am enjoying it so far, I dont think its got the juice for more than 22 episodes.
Unless the reveal at the end of season one turns the show in another direction. For example, we head back to 1980s when the “pylon project” was in the works. The tests they performed and the whole end they were trying to achieve. You’d have a new cast from a different point of view but the same premise.
I know. I know. LOST did that already…kinda.
If it does that I dont have a problem. Unfortunately thats sort of what they promised with Heroes (new cast new direction new story) and the success was so heavy it dragged the show down.
I’m predicting an unexpected twist along the lines of ‘the pylon project was the defense against the blackout and is the reason it was ONLY 2:17’ or ‘the 2:17 blackout actually saved everyone from something much worse’.
I’m hoping the promo of Dominic Monaghan saying, “I know the reason…” is not craaap. I hope there is some exposition, instead of commercial break.
Wait, Meriadoc Brandybuck is on this show?! Geez, fall a couple episodes behind and all of a sudden Charlie Pace gets off the island and makes landfall in Flash Forward.
He is next week, according to the promo at the end of the show.
As long as Dominic’s character doesn’t write “Not Olivia’s Boat” and drowns, I’m happy
That being said, I won’t be happy if they really killed off Janis the same episode that she was outed in.
Last episode was awesome. I agree, Janis is a great character—I really hope they haven’t killed her off.
Craked me up: the scene with the FBI agents singing “Like a Rolling Stone” in the karaoke bar. I did that song often in my karaoke days. The DJ used to love it when I got up there, cuz it’s a 13 minute song, and he could take a nice break.
