A friend of mine says these movies are too dark. I disagree. I think they’re just right and they add another dimension beyond Tolkeins books.
If you’re willing to put in years making the films, you end up with a quality product. By far the best book to film adaptation ever.

Jackson’s love of the material is beyond evident
I’ve listened to all the commentaries and the extra dvds so im fine for the first part. i love every second of these movies.

I swear this is true also: 8 years ago, I stuppiedly wore my wedding ring after bikking with some friends and then when swiming. The ring slipped from my finger and was lost forever. My wife took it well and bought me a replacement one that was identical.

This film is a word is beautiful. Every shot is a photo. It reminded me of Star Wars which tool me far, far away. I was transported to Middle Earth.
Yup. And he wife’s love of it too—she being one of the script writers.
I love the extra part with Bilbo writing the book - it makes him have more of a proper arc in this movie
And, once again, Ian McKellan is Gandalf.
I like that we meet him this way. I think it is the way Gandalf was happiest. Hanging out, smoking a pipe, entertaining hobbit children, singing one of Bilbo’s songs.
I really want The Hobbit to be made by Peter Jackson.
So it’s at the bottom of a lake somewhere? Hopefully, Andy Serkis will find it someday.
They built this Shire a year before they needed it so it would looked aged when they filmed it.
