Favorite SciFi Theme Music

the Metallica take of the Imperial March! yeah…

If everybody was actually hot and pretty in the army, I’d have joined up too!!

It’s like a friend of mine said once. She was actually led to believe by too many college movies that everybody at college is actually super hot and was totally disappointed when the reality turned out to be different.

Did someone request the greatest theme song ever?
They just don’t make theme song like this anymore and this one is legendary.

How about young Johnny Williams’ 2 themes to Lost in Space?

the Galaxyrangers theme song! Not kidding; no pun intended, but i still kinda remember the cartoon. The themesong had a feelgood 80’s vibe to it.

PS => RDM should reimagine that show!

I don’t know… I’d be kinda mad of Goose turned out to be a woman in the reimagining!

This thread reminds me of a tape I got as kid called “Space Organ”. No, its not what you think, but a recording of a large church organ playing Sci-fi themed music. Ah…, I just found it in the closet… It includes a Star Wars Medley (Main Title, Princess Leia’s Theme and Cantina Band), Close Encounters of the Third Kind, a medley from Superman, and Battlestar Galactica. Man I loved it as a kid…

Okay, just put it in the tape deck… After 20+ years the fidelity is gone and, uh, I think I just realized that it is just a bit cheesy… Takes me back though…

Edit: Just read the liner notes and found out it was recorded here. The actual organist, Jonas Nordwall, is shown about halfway down the page… It now all makes perfect sense…

John Williams is my favorite. He did the music for the movies : Jaws, Star Wars, Superman, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, the Indiana Jones films, Jurassic Park, Hook, Schindler’s List, Born on the Fourth of July, and Harry Potter.

For TV : Olympic Games, NBC News, NBC Nightly News, The Today Show, Meet The Press, NBC Sunday Night Football[16], Amazing Stories, An Ewok Adventure, Land of the Giants, Lost in Space, The Time Tunnel, Star Wars: Clone Wars (TV Series)

So please do not make me pick one.
I also love the BG theme music and the Lost music.

Speaking for my part on tv, I must admit I have always LOVED the BSG, Firefly, and babylon 5 the best…

Does anyone recall space cases? now that was a theme song to sing along with

What do you think of the most recent Harry Potter scores? I don’t think Williams has been involved since movie 1, and come Order of the Phoenix the music is very different, but I still like it. The composer’s Nicholas Hooper, if anyone is interested in checking it out.

Star Wars
Firefly
Battlestar
Jurassic Park
Mass Effect

I love the music for all of them but Star Wars will always be my favorite. I have the soundtracks for all 6 movies on my iPod (the Clone Wars soundtrack will be joining them later this week) and listen to them quite often.

Does Crimson Tide count cause that theme is FANTASTIC /Frank from Dead Rising

It’s more Fantasy with some SciFi elements, but Angelo Badalamenti’s City Of Lost Children soundtrack is amazing too.

It doesn’t count, but it’s great music for an awesome movie!

I’ve always thought of City of the Lost Children as more steam punk which i consider sci-fi. But if you are gonna go there Delicatessen also has some great tunes. Including a singing saw.

confession: the first time I heard the Jerry Goldsmith’s theme for ST:Voyager, I cried it was so beautiful. too bad the show didn’t live up to the music

I second the Mass Effect choice. For those that havn’t played/listened, it is quite good.

On the video game note, I’m surprised Halo hasn’t been mentioned by anyone yet. Marty’s music in all three games is nothing short of fantastic and tends to stick with you, not to mention the fact that the Chanting will do down in history as one of the all-time most memorable musical moments in gaming.

For those who havn’t listened, the failed xbox/pc game “Advent Rising” had a FANTASTIC score too. I never played the game, but stumbled into the soundtrack on amazon and, after previewing, bought it on the spot.

Looks like everyone mentioned all of my favourites already. I got a few more…

Boom Boom Ba by Metisse (Dead like me)
Gotta Knock a Little Harder by Mai Yamane (Cowboy Bebop)
