City on the Edge of Forever and The Inner Light I can see, both are definitely among the top in their respective series, but Past Tense for DS9? When there is the entire Dominion War story arc to choose from plus the Ocean’s 11 episode plus Far Beyond The Stars?
And Caretaker for Voyager? That’s like choosing Encounter at Farpoint for TNG! Voyager had the Year of Hell 2-parter and the Hirogen and Species 8472 episodes…
I’m not trying to argue with your taste, because I respect your choices, but would you maybe care to defend at least Caretaker?
Actually the reason why i liked Caretaker was because the entity itself was an interesting one which they failed to utilise throughout the series. Yes there was the episode Cold Fire (I Think) where we met its petulent mate, but then NOTHING grrrr, so after seven years later we get a Borg Sub Space Conduit thingy and bingo they are home, an opportunity missed I think. As for Encounter at Farpoint (yuck)…but at least it was revisited well in All Good Things
Past Tense for me was an interesting social commentary of what if… a good example of the class system gone wrong, I too also like The Visitor, but the whole Dominion Arc became boring with lets evecuate the station at the end of every season and have a space battle to get it back then go to earth and have din dins at bens dads diner and complain about it all, oh look miles your a changeling no wait its just your accent
not saying it was bad, god no, it was great, but a little tiresome until the whole pai wraiths (sp) thing made things interesting again
I agree. There was a cool kind of mysticism clouding the caretaker and there could have been like a quest where they would have found little hints to a second caretaker or some other “greater entity” and whole thing would have had more meaning than the Borg wormhole/shortcut. Or, even better, they could have all just died in the Delta quadrant.
Oh…I know…my favorite episode is the one where there is a mysterious energy reading that has never been seen before which sits squarely between them and a distress signal. Then stuff happens that is unexpected, mostly affecting the dilthium crystals. Not to give away the ending, but they narrowly escape and save the day. Someone says something funny and/or ironic at the end.
Best episode ever.
… using the transporter, the holodeck or Geordi’s visor …
No a Fixed Graviton Beam from the Main Deflector Dish, cures most things including the common cold
oh yeah, but first they have to go to this planet where everybody looks human, speaks English and is in need of 24th century missionaries and the women are hot for Riker
Well, that just goes to prove Hodgkin’s Law of Forehead Development.
True story, Brent Spiner guested at a local con and said “Measure of a Man” was his favorite TNG ep.
I’m a loser I can’t pick one TNG ep: “Parallels” (parallel Riker’s pleas still bother me.) And “Yesterday’s Enterprise”. And “Cause and Effect”.
That made me laugh out loud, thank you.
HA HA !! Oh how painful, is the truth.
