You’ve got to be at least as hot as John to get the “well, as long as we’re in mortal danger” maneuver to actually work.

When John opens the door to the men’s restroom near the end of the episode, the men in there are, left to right, an uncostumed Anthony Simcoe, episode director Rowan Woods, and the show’s production designer, Ricky Eyres. Ben Browder confirms their identity on the DVD commentary for the episode.
One thing that I loved about this show is they would take a sci-fi cliche and give it a minor realist twist that would make a brand new wonderful story out of it.

Such a great moment. It feels like a one-off thing, so typical of first-season sci-fi shows, and yet, it turns out to be the entire point of the series.

I said it before and I’ll say it again, the show looked like a cliche when it was first advertized, but amazing writing with terrific stories really made it a stand out show.
