Dragon Age: Origins

Yeah I’m not sure what’s up with the bags yet… and I’m still figuring out the whole party thing.

And I’m incredibly slow moving through games, I like to talk to everyone and see everything :o

Yeah, my character’s an elven mage, so she has a lot of interesting conversations with people. WTF, Grey Wardens, why does everyone think women can’t be part of it?

I’m in the middle of the Mage Tower quests now (left my elf in the Fade, bad player I am), I think if I hadn’t started out there I would be hella confused, but having done the Mage origin story, well, it’s downright familiar.

I’m slow too. Which is why I have a play through with 110 hours that’s not even finished. I don’t see how ppl can finish this game in 50 hours.

What’s confusing about bags and the party thing?

I’m playing as a female dwarven tank atm. It’s interesting seeing the different reactions and dialog options.

“…I’m the bravest one here. And, I’m a woman!”

There are female wardens in the opening scenes of the game, so I dunno. Medieval sexism I guess.

Glad you are enjoying the game.

Patch 1.04 is now available.

GAMEPLAY

Multiple transitions in and out of Fade areas were multiplying the number of visual effects running, which slowed down gameplay. This no longer occurs.
Fixed pick-pocketing. Characters were successfully stealing, but not receiving any items.

GAMEPLAY
Fixed an issue with the wrong characters appearing in Morrigan’s ritual.
Players who rescued their party members in the Fade of the Broken Circle plot are no longer forced to fight the sloth demon alone.
It is no longer possible for the player to get blocked during gameplay by pursuing both candidates’ quests in the Orzammar plot line.
I was wondering why I wasn’t getting some loot occasionally!

Edit: Added spoiler tags as I’ve realized that’s what they were. ):

Yes I played it!

No there are no pictures, none were allowed.

They put out a thing on twitter saying to come “here” and play the game. We got a short 10 min speech and demonstration by the games lead designer Mike Laidlaw and then got 5 min to play through an intro battle.

As for the combat system it really is ME2 meets DA:O, we only saw the 360 version though. They did have some new unannounced DLC to test out but I didn’t wan’t to get out of line for that.

It was running mostly slily smooth in combat no slowdown that i saw, better then ME2 did on a good day. Some textures were still missing so that could slow it down in the future but the game LOOKED fantastic.

Still need to see the PC one but this feels like a more legit game then the previous 360 incarnation?

Also we got some story spoilers, nothing big but anyone out there who thought that the main character might be the archdemon - warden offspring are wrong. Doesn’t fit the timeline. Anyway I’ll post later if no one else does but I have to get ready for W00tstock.

P.S. Sorry for the late notice. I’ve only just read about it.

Annnd, another DLC for DA:O. Though, this one is only $5.

Dragon Age unearthing Golems of Amgarrak

$5 DLC will add underground adventure to PC, PS3, and 360 editions of BioWare’s high-fantasy role-playing game.

I’ve lost count of how much DLC DA:O has. Not complaining. I just wish there was a way to get all of the expansions and DLC in one go for a discount.

Fine ignore the fact that I PLAYED dragon age 2 :stuck_out_tongue:

Didn’t get that far yet, but I just recognized Armin Shimmerman (Quark) in Mass Effect. Never made the connection before, but he voiced the mayor of the colony on Feros.

BioWare announces latest add-on pack for high fantasy role-playing game; content focuses on witch woman Morrigan, concludes Origins narrative.

And a new vid for DA2.

My reaction was, “Oh, crap!”

Just started a new game of DA this morning as a Dalish Elf rouge

Interesting that it was Kate Mulgrew’s voice in that trailer… is Flemeth returning?

That has been rumored, she is IN part of the game that I can personally confirm. I don’t know if she is playable or what though. The bit of the game I played at Comic Con had her show up at the end of a story segment in dragon form.

Well, I just finished my first runthrough. Didn’t understand the romance system soon enough to get any of those achievements. After how long the rest of the story took, the boss fight didn’t seem all that epic. Spamming the ballistas, then getting close for the 4 hit special (from the sword and shield tree) every once in a is a bit too easy. Might have gone a less cheesy route if rejecting Morrigan’s idea didn’t take her from 100% approval to gone, since she was my offensive mage. With her gone, I took Wynne (healer), Leliana (range), and Sten (2 hand tank) for the finale.

Also ran through a couple more origins, and after running the Dwarf Noble origin, I’m glad I supported Behlen on the first runthrough, because I don’t think I’ll be able to bring myself to do it again. I think after I do the last 3 origins, I’ll be done with Dragon Age for a while.

I’m just finished a recent play through of Dragon Age, including all the DLC (Awakenings, The Golems of Amagorrak, Witch Hunt, Lelilana’s song and The Darkspawn Chronicles). It was a lot of fun. I have to say the the final boss in the Golems of Amagorrak really, REALLY sucked on hard mode. I mean it was one my most frustrating moments in video gaming. I just beat it five minutes ago. Next time I play that particular DLC it will be on easy and we’ll see how it likes multiple ‘Storm of the Centuries’ (not an advisable tactic when friendly fire is on). It must have cost me about a 100 healing potions.

I am extremely pleased to get that out of the way. Now that it is, Lair of the Shadow Broker here I come.,

Ha, yes the final boss was a killer. Was only my own PC who lasted more than a minute or so in that fight, the NPCs were just fodder. Had to keep running away then lobbing things, putting Strength of Stone on, running away, healing, stamina potions, more running. I rejoiced when I took him down for the first time. My rejoicing was cut rather short though, should have expected that. Much cussing ensued.

I’m finally going to choose Harrowment this time (just started a new playthrough since I haven’t played the game in a while, and damnit, I refuse to have Alistair dump me because I’m an elf, that bastard. Plus, looking forward to DAO 2 so wanted to get myself back into that world.)

In the first playthrough, I naturally thought of Harrowment as the evil choice because I thought he would be a terrible leader with his stubborn traditionalism and non-globalization that’s going to doom all the working class and casteless people (I guess being an elf who’s berated at every turn too made me really dislike Harrowment right from the get go). Bhelan is a sneakyass murderous dude, but even with that in mind I thought he would be a much better leader who looks to the future rather than the past.

And this time, I’m actually going to try slaying Flemeth (who I wussed out on the first time around, hee).

I pre-ordered DAII today from Gamestop. Gonna be a long 60 days.

Everyone remember, you have until the 11th to pre-order to get the Signature Edition goodies for the price of the normal edition.

Around here, I wouldn’t be able to pre-order. Hopefully there will be goodies for store bought (and not second hand) copies. Either way, definitely buying it since I’ll be spending the next year (or more) playing it … so definitely well worth the money!

I’m definitely excited, though I hope I don’t miss my Grey Wardens too much.

I’ve got my Signature edition pre-ordered. In fact I have it for a cheaper price that what the normal edition is going for on Amazon at the moment. I’ve checked a couple of stores and the Signature edition is no longer available. I just hope that they don’t decide to introduce a different special edition. I hope this method of getting early pre-orders doesn’t become too common. It could be very easy to miss a pre-order window. I’ll have to make sure that I keep an eye out for Mass Effect 3

I must play another run through of Origins before DA2 is released. I’m very familliar with the story, but I’ve a few achievements to collect.
