The lawsuits from people who react badly to seeing dead relatives would bankrupt even Disney.
This is kinda what I’m saying. Love is far more important then any amount of knowledge we can acquire in this life.
Finally Ellie realizes how important Faith is. I love how the film combines religion and science. Both are important.
Must sleep. So tired. Great frakkin with y’all see ya tomorrow.
I don’t see that at all. There’s definitely a dichotomy, where she’s suddenly in the place of someone making an extraordinary claim without extraordinary evidence, where the rest of the world has to accept her crazy story, based only on faith, but I don’t see that as any sort of religious epiphany. She’s just seeing what it’s like to be on the other side of the argument for a change, not changing her core beliefs.
G’night, 'Talos. Enjoy your new puppy.
I never said she did. I said the movie combines it, not her. Her epiphany was that maybe others weren’t crazy professing a belief they couldn’t prove. It’s nice because it doesn’t take shots at either side. We end up in a place where we are all equal. This is also why we have intuition which is synonymous with Faith. To have insight into the things we can’t know. Science is based on Faith no mater how much we try to deny it. Theories and experiments are Faith. You take what you know about something and postulate a theory. Until it is tested you have faith it is correct. It is interesting how she is avoiding even using the word Faith earlier in the movie and has to rely on it in the end.
I also don’t know why people would have a problem with her dad as the alien. it fits in with the movie very well. The whole movie would be ruined if some crazy man in a suit or CGI alien came up to her. Contact is an excellent movie, hands down.
Not quite. No toaster was involved in its construction.
