That’s only in New Cap City. The rest of VWorld doesn’t have that limitation.
Zoe’s ideas about slight environmental differences making a big difference in personality development were pretty neat. It amazes me that some people still deny that we’re the product of our environment.
All about the programming. In New Cap City, it’s programmed that way. You die, you’re out. Resurrection is a different kind of programming. You die, you copy.
And now that I think about it, even the Cylon(z)(s) couldn’t hack their programming. They couldn’t just die, unless a Resurrection ship wasn’t around. Gina prayed for death. Also, Zoe showed a flaw in this episode. She couldn’t fly the Viper. Tamara on the other hand is like Neo in the Matrix. This keeps getting more and more interesting.
I think that Zoë is the Cylon God. She led the way. She created the process that allowed them to exist. In fact, her name is Greek for “life”. I doubt that’s coincidence.
Tamara may well be the first Cylon, totally one with the machine.
Which makes the events of BSG take on a whole new level.
Actually, the drugs help. In my experience the prescription kind do, anyway. I got nothing against religion, especially faith yet hallucinations and psychosis sure do confuse that venture.
did he really? I hope he did, but they could also go the route that he’ll discard his thot.
I was wondering when and how he was gonna figure that out. In the previous episode, U-87 hesitated when ordered to remove its arm. I thot they would drag out that plot, dropping subtle hints along the way. Nope. This production staff doesn’t play that way.
In regards to Zoe not being able to fly the viper, I thought at first she did that on purpose. I think she likes computer boy, but she ultimately is using him to get out of the lab and on to Gemenon, so she does not want to reveal too much about her true nature and purpose. But could it be that when original Zoe created V Zoe, she built that feature into her, so she could learn and evolve just like an organic being?
I wonder if Virtual Zoe is the same as Tamara, in that neither one of them exist outside the V world, so neither one of them can die? I wish we had seen Tamara this week. I am curious to know where her story is going. The tragic thing about Tamara is that she knows life on the outside, and she wants to get out of the V world.
I’m still having a really hard time with this thought though- does V Tamara have a soul? And if she does, it cannot be the same one that original Tamara had (in my mind). So I am really struggling with this concept, meaning how can an entity that exists exclusively in a virtual world be sentient and have a “soul”? This always blew my mind when I was watching BSG as well. :o
Zoe can not fly the Viper because she is alive in her avatar, so while others can change aspects about their avatar, such as appearance, she and Tamara can not.
That means she and Tamara can not fly a Viper if they didn’t know how unless they learn. They can not bust out in Kungfu unless they learn. Essentially they are not Neo. They are not going to suddenly fly around in the V-world.
Their only advantage is that they can not de-res in the V-world. In New Cap city where players gets banned when they are killed, it means the girls have the advantage of being invincible. While in other parts of the V-world it doesn’t mean much. Since anyone who de-res outside of New Cap city can just jump back in when they wish.
OTOH, they’re very much the ghost in the machine. They’re not using an interface to access VWorld; they’re literally part of it. In some ways, that makes them like a combination of Neo and Agents. They have senses and abilities (in VWorld) that normal humans could never have because they’re not part of the program. Consider how Tamara could affect the NPC guards. She did that by reflex, but eventually, they’ll learn how to hack the system on the fly, at will.
