Brannon Braga wanted to kill Star Trek: Voyager's Seven Of Nine

HA! True. Good ole Bozeman

You mean like Data dying? I didn’t like how that was done.

Well, it goes without saying that the impact isn’t as great (or at least not in the way it was intended) if it’s poorly executed.

Of course if it’s well executed (like Obi-Wan in ANH or Anakin in RotJ), it does make things even better.

I think besides Spock, the other main character deaths (real death… er, I guess we wouldn’t count Spock’s death then) be it in movie or TV, are done very poorly.

the episode of Yar’s death was HORRIBLE. I don’t know, maybe there are people who enjoyed it, but I hated that episode, and not even because of Yar’s death. Even if Yar didn’t die it would have still been a horrible episode. And Yar just had to die that such episode…

Kirk’s death in Generation felt they did it just because they wanted to kill him off in that movie. i never felt the threat was that great in the movie, therefore it didn’t make a great impact. They had film the killing of Kirk in two different ways and it still didn’t work. it wasn’t how Kirk was killed that lost the audiance, it was the circumstances that he was kill for simply wasn’t engaging.

Data being killed i think also falls in the same catagory as Kirk’s death.

For Jadzia they had a great opportunity to kill her. When she was injured on the planet and Worf left her to get help, that’s the episode where she should have died. Because it would have been a touching story with a great impact on Worf’s character. But they had her sucker shot by Dukat 10 episodes later.

I get that on TV sometimes it was done in a certain way because of contracts, but why they wouldn’t manage it in the movie i am not sure…

Yeah, that would have worked like a charm. Just imagine how painful it would have been for Worf if he’d abandoned his duty to save Jadzia, then she died anyways. If they’d known about her wanting to leave then, they could have shuffled episodes around and had that as one of the last couple episodes in the season.

YES!!! that’s exactly what I want to see too!!!

some people who also thought this episode should be the one where Jadzia died wanted for Worf to complete the mission and find her dead, while that will also impact Worf, but it doesn’t show how important Jadzia is to Worf. Worf cares about her so much that he is willing to give up all his Klingon and Federation teachings about honor and mission. But in the end she dies anyway. That would have made season 6 for me.

I don’t think I thought too much about it at the time. Then again I was in high school at the time and had to stay up until like 1am to watch DS9 on a random day of the week I don’t remember. Ahh the joys of syndication. Although one cool thing was like for a year or so Babylon 5 was right after it on my channel.

all lesbian kissing aside…(see previous part of thread)

…yeah that would have been amazing to see, but tough to watch…Worf might’ve just snapped after that

true… but it would have still been easier to watch than Dee shotting herself in the head… cause i snapped after that.

Agreed, that was frakked up. Never saw that coming.

Yeah, good times. Good times.
