Best story line in a game

two games from the SNES blew me away when i played then

the first was final fantasy IV . intricate storyline. fantastic characters. and enough twist and turns to make my head come off the shoulders. made me realize for the first time the power of story in a video game.

so when the follow-up came…i tought…no way this will be better.

it was

Final fantasy VI still remain for me the greatest RPG of all time. again…the incredible characters…the colossal story line…a fantastic villain…but what put me on my ass was aria mezzo carattere . a video game moment…touching me…as in almost tears in my eyes…no kidding. from a feaking SNES game. unbelivable.

but yes…Kotor is fantastic. Showed me that a star wars story can be great again.

The Curse of Monkey Island. I never laughed so hard. Brilliant!

KOTOR I is among the best games I’ve ever played. I loved KOTOR II until the ending, which turned me off so much I never even bothered with playing the dark side. Stupid rush job. (Too bad, too, cause the overall story was great.)

The ending of KOTOR II is by far the worst video game ending I’ve ever seen. I wanted to throw my XBox out the window so badly. I was incredibly disappointed but I was convinced that there had to be a KOTOR III coming soon so I kept playing and the gameplay was fun.

Did it change much with the dark side ending? Cause I was so pissed off by the ending that I refused to play again and sold my copy. All because Lucasarts asked BioWare to put it out for a Christmas release for which they were not ready (supposedly the originally intended ending was going to be great).

And it’s too bad, because otherwise KOTOR II was a great game.

There is a team of volunteers that have spent the last couple years de-bugging and re-inserting on-disc content to make KOTOR II a more complete game. They’re almost done last I checked, though that was a month or two ago and it’s very slow going.

The ending changes only a little bit, still totally incomplete and a crappy ending for 30 hours worth of work.

Meh. It all pales compared to Marathon. Scroll down on the left until you hit “arrival.” (The story unfolds in a series of text terminals that you come across during the game. )

As for the ending of Kotor II…that happened because LucasArt wanted to ship the product for the holidays…instead of February as was scheduled. And since it was beinf produced by Obsidian instead of Bioware, LucasArts got their ways, resulting in a rushed game

Just sad Bioware was not in charge. They have the status in the industry to tell LucasArts to shut up and and take a chill pill. Obsidian could not say that to the evil empire…so

mass effect is the obvious choice for me and a better game over all, possibly the best game i’ve ever played. but just for the best story i’d go with max payne 2 it was the game that actually got me interested in video games.

but i’m a sucker for anything noir…
