Bay Area Meetup

Hey All,

It was fantastic to meet some great fellow fans and and hang out with Chuck and Sean (the other guy) over some great Indian food. It seemed that a great time was had by all. Many, many thanks and props goes out Annalee for letting a bunch of strangers into her home and being a great host for a communal Frak Party. What else is there to say other than AWEsome!

Chuck,

Thanks for taking a few minutes to chat with me at Makers Faire on Saturday. I didn’t get a chance to say hey to Sean - but maybe next year if you guys head back this a ways. Oh, and in response to your question, yes, I am a Matrix fan but it is also what I do in the real world. (Do you think that this is real, Neo?)

Wish I had a bit more time to have a longer chat (and meet Sean) - 'cos I did want to to express my appreciation for what you’re doing with GWC. I guess this will have to suffice.

Anyway, great to see you in person.

I had a great time as well - thanks for organizing this, Chuck and Sean – and a big thank you to Annalee for hosting. Perhaps the locals who met last night could stay in touch via the Bay Area Actual yahoo group. It’s a fun group.

OK. This is kind of a strange post. I’ll be heading off to SF for work later this month, which coincides with the last two episodes of BSG this year (or at least, as far as we know for now. When is Season 4.5 starting anyway?). What I’m wondering is if anyone knows where I could go to see the finale on TV (the hotel the office has put me up in DOES NOT HAVE CABLE. Well, at least not all the cable channels, and I’m pretty sure SCIFI is not on the list of channels that they have. Cheapass boss. Anyway…) in the city of SF. Is there a bar/restaurant/anything! that will have this on their tvs or something? Please help! I would HATE to miss it and have to wait I get back home to see it, or resort to seeing it on my tiny laptop screen.Which of course I’d end up doing if I can’t find any other way. Any ideas?

I’ve added a few pictures from Maker Faire 2008 to the GWC Flickr pool. Here’s the highlight though. Chuck, Sean and their newest friend Bob the stegosaurus. Luckily for Lisa and me he doesn’t bite (I mean Bob, not Sean)…

I think some other Alpaca took pictures at the actual meet-up. Hopefully, they’ll be posted soon…

Alas, poor Bob. Hopefully he’ll be entertaining kind folk at his new home: TechShop in the Bay Area.

Ahhh memories… LOL

Oh… and I added my highlights to my blog … [ Maker Faire 2008 ]

If you want to know what Stephen, Sean, and I (and JR, of course) were doing all week. Here 'tis:
